I think he's a Chinese Crested. He's hairless, got big ears, spotted skin and his tail has fur only on the end.

Hmmm, you could be right about that! I kept thinking some sort of bat (the ears), or wild dog or dingo or something, but Chinese Crested would definitely make more sense, wouldn't it?

I thought he was a bat at first too. Then I saw his tail and I realised otherwise. I saw yesterday on the creator's sketch blog:

"his appearance is based on a bunch of different animals, but mostly a jackal and a Peruvian hairless, and like…maybe a fennec fox or something."

and below some pictures of those animals, it says:

"Within the comic universe, his hairlessness is caused by a genetic defect, which is why he’s sometimes referred to as a “mutant”. Both of his parents have fur, and if he wasn’t an inbred hairless monster he’d look kind of like a big-eared silver fox thing."
