House of Leaves -- reading it now. Interesting book... To say the least.

I really like this one--although the dot in the center of the beige box is rather distracting.

If you read the book it makes an appearance randomly. I don't know if I like it there or not either.

Ah fuck you know what I should have played with that "blind spot" visual pun. Well I still have time until I run a print.

exactly!!!
when i read the book i thought a lot of that stuff was a waste of paper at first. but it added the psychological aspect of the book once it all 'maked sense'. i try to imagine how living in a house like that would have been. i would have gone insane, no doubt about it.

He's quite a visual artist with his writing. That's what happens when you give a creative author complete control of how his/her book works.

I love both the inspirations, and this.
Have you read danielewski's newer book (I think thats the author).
Its so hard to read with the whole switching back and forth, I kinda gave up.

Only Revolutions? Yeah I lost interest on the new one too. Gave it an honest attempt, and the concept is nice but it seems to much like a Jackson Pollock painting with words -- interesting typography though. House of Leaves, however, remains high upon the rankings of the most mindfuck yet completely readable books of mankind.

Iirc, Mister Z said that he wouldn't let anyone make a film out of the book. I don't think it would work that well anyways, there's lots of weird referencing (and how the hell would you fit Johnny's story in with that old man's, his mum's and Navidson's without the film being longer than sustainable) as well as visual elements and ideas that only work with written word (Navidson's introverted fears as he goes through the dark, Johnny's paranoia, etc). You ought to watch The Number 23 and Pi if you like, they're just about as mindfuck and complex.

Yeaah, it is the most complicated book
I love how he just created the whole world
Seen #23, ill check out pi!
I always think of ways how I would direct books I like, but if anyone actually made a film of a book I like i probably wouldnt like the film
That said I just noticed Jim Carreys staring in "Yes Man", which is a book I read around 6months ago, so we shall see.
