JTHM is just the right kind of thing for a Halloween Countdown, wouldn't you say? I know that the series can be viewed as gratuitous and desperately pandering to edgy goth culture but damn if I don't like it. Underneath all it's shock value is, what I find to be a very well made surreal horror story. I suppose it's because I'm an artist that I really share the sentiment in the story, the dark depths to which a creative's mind can sink and the level of mania that can build wen inspiration runs dry. In a lot of ways the series works a lot like Stephen King's Misery where the true horror comes from being someone that could happen to. I suppose with his creation Happy Noodle Boy taking the bottom rung of the latter last year, it was only natural to place the psychotic mind behind it into this year's countdown.
