yeah mate, sorry, im always whining at you.
Sometimes you gotta make a decision in life, and if you ain't in a rush about it all, take your time, do little bit each week. Don't think of it as 'studying', sketch from a photo or something and then do a character in the same pose. Mate, if you happy, don't worry bout it, just think it would be a waste of a talent. You got time tho, but seriously, if you not progressing, its time wasted. Just think, every couple of years you don't do nothing, thats another couple of years some sicko has furthered his own stuff, or a handful of new kids broke through. Scary!
There's me going on like I'm ultra motivated, I just played bioshock basically all day yesterday! Gonna get back on it monday.
I got a book here, 'anatomy for artists', with sections on each different body part, loads of photos from all different angles, and at the end of each chapter its got a bit called 'master class' where they selected an artist that has mastered that particular body part, Di vinci bit in her, his studies are sick, hes stripped the body down to its bowns, then drawn with muscles on etc so his knowledge goes beyond just the exterior, his paintings of muscles etc are so good, because when he draws an arm, he knows the shape of the bone and how that muscle is attached to it etc Its almost like a science diagram his studies. sicko
Any way, enough preaching. Im gonna waste the day away staring at dots of electricity.

completely understand where your coming form, and i dont mind u moaning, cos it all makes sense, isn't just mindless rambling about shit, actualy asome proper crit
yea il have to have a look at that book mate tbh, if i had summin infront of me to study i probably would, ive thought about doing all sorts in the past, like just drawing water, over and over, leave it a few weeks, months whatever, then go back to doing the same piece, see how far ive progressed etc, didnt end up doing that though, started looking for anatomy once, but tbh a book would actualy be better than the internet for pages and pages of stuff infront of you, u have to look to hard on the net if you want to find exactly what u want
the main thing i want to learn tbh if i was to start practicing is female anatomy, i can draw a man easy, sure he wont be super detailed, but face and chest and arms im fine with, although i do need to understand the muscle and bone structure alot better.
i cant draw females at all though, id love to be able to draw a fit hot bitch in my style haha
anyway catch u tomorra il bell you in a few hourswhen i see andy to see what time we coming up, i'd prefer morning to be honest, we'l see

hah, yea i know whwre your coming from mate, im lacking as they say i just dont have the drive to learn at the mo, im just sitting and doodling what i do without thinking too much about lighting anatomy etc, u are right though, i do need study it alot more to become great, just it's either get in from work and draw muscles , or play a game or go out, although i'd love to be drawing muscles, the game or going out option always wins if u know what i mean. when im around you tho i get the urge to draw, and shit, i dont feel much inspiration otherwise, wel talk more on sat anyway
im going to bed too, take it easy

sorry mate, if thats patronizing, but its true. And Im in a similar boat, just wanna do something different. Luckily it requires less traditional technical skill, which is small part of the reason I have kinda shied away from concept art. Although lately, I've kinda had the urge to return back to some of that old shit i was doin, Kebab man etc.
Dont get me wrong, I definitely dont think that concept art is just ALL about realistic representation, just that it is a major aspect of it and heavily rooted within the basic (not simple, basic as in traditional) elements of drawing, the good old fashioned 'nuts and bolts' of art. For example, a beautifully drawn arm pulsating with rippling muscles, they actually are radically exaggerated from what an actual arm would look like, but could only be drawn that well by someone who had observed and drawn a real arm, probably from many angles, and over and over.
You can, many people do, and I did, take a short cut and use someone else's drawings of muscles and various body parts, but its not the same, and without gaining the knowledge of the real shape, observing it, digesting it, and using that knowledge for reproducing it in the language of your own style, you cant draw it naturally from various angles, your knowledge of the biscep for example, will be restrained by the one angle or shape that you've copied or loosely replicated from someone elses drawing, whereas the better you now the shape of the real thing in your head, the more naturally you an reproduce on a page in many angles. A good stylized bicep is like your styles symbol for that body part.
Im going bed any hoot egg face. Sorry if none of that makes sense.

shouldn't of shown me that link then this one after another. This is a phat sketch by most standards, but hideous compared to what other concept artists are doing. If I didn't think you were capable of the same standard I wouldn't say what I just said, coz thats just cruel.
You have some work to do, anatomy, lighting, all them sorts of things, that if you have a raw inbuilt talent for drawing (like you!) just take practice, observational drawing etc
Then, once a certain level of technical ability is achieved, which (although admirable) hundreds of people have got, its the imagination that separates the good concept artists from the average. Thats where you lucky, and potentially could be off-key.
Only thing is, you have not, and do not do enough of the boring stuff to execute sick ideas to the standard that seems to be expected and in that feild. Gaming is into its ..what.. 5th or 6th generation (not to mention film) and concept art has developed to a very high standard.
All this is pointless babble if you dont actually want to be a concept artist or something similar, but you do dont ya, and i think you could be a very good one.
