Yet ANOTHER commission for one of my friends. She's going to work in Paris for a year (which is great, but I'm really going to miss her!) As a leaving present I asked what she'd like, and since she already owns this drawing of an elephant: [link] she requested a giraffe to go with it. She also requested the flowers... so even though I KNOW that bamboo etc. aren't really accurate, it's exactly what she wanted!
Coloured pencils and ink on A4 card, took about 8 hours.

Thank you very much! Yeah, it's quite small really, so I could work quite fast... and I only had one free day this week, and since my friend's moving away next Tuesday I had to be quick!

awww, that's a really nice one.
I love how you manage to fit so many colours into everything, even if the overal effect is a green leaf, or a brown giraffee, there's so many other colours lurking in the shading of each part. Really brings it to life.
lower giraffe has such a 'look mum, love you too, but I'm not a kid anymore.... do you have to do this in public?' look, to my mind

Haha, when I posted this one on facebook a group of my friends started with the, "Hail to the evil giraffe baby!" thing. Which... is that a thing? With my friends it kinda is...
I used so much brown in this picture, it's mental! So when I look at it I can barely see all the colours, just... waa, my brown pencils are little nubs!

this is really beautiful I love how you blended the colors it's rough but yet really soft in a unique way
that's giraffe's eye is so gorgeous with them long eyelashes <3 and the background is lovely with all the
different flowers and cute little details like the caterpillar at the bottom

Thank you very much! Yeah, the girl who I drew this for is getting drawing lessons from me at the moment, so when I was doing it I felt very self-conscious about my shading style!
