Just form their body language. Remus has that mature, protective seme look and Sirius is all cute and uke. And the composition, with Remus above Sirius.
Yeah, it works, it's just unusual. Sirius has such a seme personality.

Oh, Sirius is a wonderful seme. Gorgeous, kind, funny, easygoing, sweet, part-time silly and full-time absolutely crazy about Remus, to the point where he can be really obsessi... I mean protective. xD Also very talented but not giving a crap about having a career as long as he has Remus and a bike.
But Remus is surely still the mature one, no doubt about that. ^^

True, Remus is more mature. I don't know, his quiet and more passive nature always marked him out as the uke of the pair to me, Sirius is all proud and rejects authority, and so... act-now-think-later. Seems like an impulsive seme.
But it works both ways, just highlights different parts of their personalities.
