I really love the quality of the colours you use, I don't know what it is but that always makes me happy. I also love the technique you use in doing the lines (making sure they don't stand out too much) which allows this kind of calm and ethereal quality to exist. Great shiny reflections too.

Thank you! n_n I realized how I usually just upload a lot of cute and happy stuff, so I was sketching lots of bloody/violent things all last night to make up for it. XD And man, life is soooo good now that the semester's over! xD Are you off for the holidays yet?

Eeep, not really. n_n; There is this huge gap between what I do now and where I want to be. I've gotten to where I am now by taking a shortcut and blindly mimicking cartoons/anime. However, now that I look at my pictures, I can clearly see all the mistakes I've made and how unoriginal I've been as a result of copying cartoons instead of real life; this was pointed out to me just recently, and I only wish it had been done so sooner. Before this holiday break, I made sure to check out several books on drawing basics and anatomy, so that I can hopefully begin anew with a solid foundation. I think if we both try our best and never stop practicing, we can get closer to where we want to be.

Well, it's always good to start small (human beings are the hardest things to draw, after all), and practice a lot. I have over 30 sketchbooks and binders filled to the brim with drawings I've done over the years. ^^ As for books, I've heard that Andrew Loomis and Burne Hogarth have written some nice ones on figure drawing (some other names are mentioned here. ). In fact, I have a book out on dynamic poses by Hogarth, and it's very helpful, if too advanced for me right now. And ohmigod, tell me about getting frustrated! Frustration is absolutely normal and is something you'll feel time and time again, but it's really important that you never give up and just keep going.
