Description Now I'm just trying to blind you all with bright colours. XD

But yes, I do not support cosmetic testing. It's unnecessary and just goes to show how far we're willing to go for vanities sake. Which is why I usually make sure my lotions and shampoo's and such weren't tested on animals.

I DO, however, support it for medical purposes. It doesn't just help people, but it helps animals too. How the fuck is a veterinarian going to help your cat if they don't know anything about cat anatomy? They need to test on animals to find that shit out, people.

Now, if they can find a better way to find this stuff out without having to test on a living thing, then I'll gladly support it, and I believe that the animals should be handled humanely and get proper medical care. But until then, if a few rats have to die to find a cure for cancer, then so be it.

If the testing to help humans and animals, I`m fine. Otherwise, I`m against it.

Someone told me that veterinary medicine proves that the life of lab animals is worth less than the life of pets (I'm not going to say who it is in public, because it would be a rather rude thing to do), therefore, we should stop veterinary medicine altogether because it sacrifices the life of innocent animals just so pets can have healthcare.

Personally I would disagree with the fact that veterinary medicine is evil just because it values the lives of certain animals over others, but I think that animal testing for human medicine doesn't always work knowing that animals do not have the same systems as us.

Really? Huh, never heard that one before. ._.

Well, to be honest, I don't really LIKE the idea of animal testing myself, but unfortunately most people aren't exactly volunteering to do it themselves(I'm not sure that's even legal), and technology only helps with so much.

I generally don't enjoy the idea of animal products, but I understand today's generation would fall apart without animal products seeing how many people of this generation use them.

I don’t agree, not because of animal rights, but because of human rights. My personal honor is at stake. Given the choice between dying of cancer or killing rats I’d take death. Even if someone told me only one rat would die, death is preferable. Not because I don’t want to harm the rat, though this is true, but because I don’t want to dishonour and shame myself by living on the blood of another.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

SiogaAgusArrachtaigh In reply to MezKitsu [2012-01-21 05:20:36 +0000 UTC]

I guess it depends on the person. After all, you don't have to take medications if you don't want to, right?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

MezKitsu In reply to SiogaAgusArrachtaigh [2012-01-21 06:03:18 +0000 UTC]

Yes, however it was banned in our nation because anyone who would test on an animal is seen as the lowest of the low. Lower than a murderer. A murderer takes life for a reason, be it anger or revenge, while an animal tester takes life to preserve himself. To kill is one thing, to kill for selfish reasons is considered worse.

Testing on animals for something as unneccesary as cosmetics is ridiculous and cruel.

Also, testing on voluntary humans would be awesome.

I agree. If a non-human animal's life is worth that of a humans, then killing seventeen rats in order to help cure a disease that kills millions should be fine. And like you said, it can help animals as well.
Animal testing for cosmetics is stupid. There are plenty of cosmetics that are considered safe without having to be tested on animals. Plus, cosmetics are, unnecessary.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

SiogaAgusArrachtaigh In reply to annaneko [2011-08-09 01:45:27 +0000 UTC]

Exactly. I mean, I'm OK with testing on humans if they volunteered to do so, but otherwise I prefer animal testing.

Pretty much. We already have more cosmetics than we really need.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

annaneko In reply to SiogaAgusArrachtaigh [2011-08-09 01:49:47 +0000 UTC]

I think people should be more open to voluntary human testing, since testing on humans would more accurately show how a human body would react to something. Also, don't the people usually get paid?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

SiogaAgusArrachtaigh In reply to annaneko [2011-08-09 01:52:13 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, I know they they do take some experimental medications for money, but I don't think it happens that often.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

annaneko In reply to SiogaAgusArrachtaigh [2011-08-09 01:54:48 +0000 UTC]

So then why do people volunteer? Usually people don't do things that are potentially harmful unless they get paid. Although some do things because they're just good people.

SiogaAgusArrachtaigh In reply to annaneko [2011-08-09 01:55:49 +0000 UTC]
