Description This project took me months. But now it's finally done... I'd forgotten to take more photos of it...

What you are seeing here is the embodiment of the (9) ball itself - it's a bona fide, hand-assembled snow globe featuring the one and only, strongest ice fairy, Cirno (From the Touhou Universe.) She hovers just slightly above her frozen domain and with a smug smirk on her face, she can make her world snow in a shake of your hand.

... go on, I dare you.

_____________________________________________________________________
Production Notes:
1. Made from a Seedling Snow Globe set (Get your own here: www.amazon.ca/Seedling-Make-Yo…) , miniature chibi Cirno figurine, glitter and confetti, miscellaneous crystals, pearls, Christmas decorations and an upcycled candle holder. And glue. Lots and lots of glue.
2. Size: 10.2 x 11.4 x 20.3 cm (not including the base)
3. Took: Much longer than anticipated.
4. Picture credit: rebecca (naononakukoroni)
5. Cirno is a member of the Touhou Universe, created by ZUN and Team Shanghai Alice, 1996-2015.

Thanks for your very kind words!
I love snow globes, personally. I've been fascinated by them since I was a child. Being able to build something like this was a dream come true. I am really glad to know you liked it! That means the world to me.

You're welcome!

You really have done a beautiful work here! I'm not that good at handcrafting, drawing is more what I feel drawn to.
Snowballs are cool, its like a little world in there. A miniature fantasy that one can create.
There's an image of an artist from Nagoya which I think you might like: www.pixiv.net/member_illust.ph…

Thank you once again!
And you are absolutely right, snowballs are some really wonderful things. And thank you for introducing me to this picture, I like it a lot! I am not great when it comes to drawing, myself. Hopefully one day I will be able to draw something like this.

You're welcome anytime!

A friend of mine introduced me to this artist and I follow him since.
I like his illustrations a lot, also how much fantasy he puts into them.

Is that right?
Well, this is definitely a cool artist to follow. Lots of textures and great technique! Besides, a little bit of fantasy is always nice. We can all use a bit of that.

Never though of making a snow globe, although I always wanted to have these and when I see one in a shop I can't resist to not shake them
The price for the set is omg so high, I wonder if there is a way to make it from scratches, for example from a clear glass bauble, polymer clay and glycerin? hmm interesting idea

Hello.

You've raised a good question. This specific kit was entirely too expensive. (I got it while on sale, otherwise I wouldn't have bought it either.) But if you are interested in making your own snow globe, here are some ways you can do it:
1. Use an upside down mason jar. This doesn't give you the nice "round dome" shape, but it does give you more room in the "globe". They are relatively easy to find, too.
2. While we are on that topic... technically any clear jar can work. Especially if you like the look and doesn't necessarily need water. canada.michaels.com/on/demandw…
3. I live in Canada and has access to the chain-store Michael's. They do sell this empty plastic globe kit for about $10.00 CAD canada.michaels.com/on/demandw… It works just as well without the frills of the glitter and clay. You are in charge of those yourself. But that's where the fun is, right?
4. There are other "not-round" choices out there that might be cheaper. You might consider, too: www.snowdomes.com/snow_globes/…

The important part about the snow globe isn't really the glass bauble. It's to make sure your water/glycerine mix doesn't leak out. Once you got that figured out, you're good to go.

Thanks for your comment and your support.
And I hope this helps!

I've always wanted to make my own snow globe, this is adorable Great job decorating the base, it takes the snow globe from a regular assemble kit, to a true work of art If anything, I wish the photo had a better illumination, the harsh shadows are distracting and they obscure some of the details.

I agree with you, the photos could have been much better. I seem to have difficulty taking good quality photos, and I am always trying to do something new to see if I can improve on it. If you know of any good tutorials on how to take good photos, I would really appreciate it!

Once again, thank you very much!

Hello, my friend... and welcome back.

And thanks for your support on my little project. You know me... I can't sit on my laurels for too long. I'm always looking for the next thing to tinker with. It's not the first time I've built one of these snow globes, actually. I've built two over Christmas for two of my friends. (Of course, they all came from a kit that lets you build your own snow globe. It made my life a lot easier!) This is one that I wanted to build so I can keep it. Very glad to know you liked it, though. That warms my heart!

And Yuyuko's snow globe would have miniature cherry blossoms.
If they actually made that, I'd chip in to buy them.

It's nice to have a baka-ball hanging around. That way I have the weather on my side. (That, and she never fails to make me smile.)

I've added a link where you can get your own set to make a snowglobe in the comments. If you are interested, you can build one of your own!

And no, there's no need to call me that. Not even Dr. Syn wants people calling him by his title. Most people here call me S.P. (short for Sinistrose Phosphate) or my initial C.J. Take your pick.

No problem. Yeah! My Korean friend introduced me to it. At first I thought it looked weird because... well... it just looked like one of those old school spaceship shootemups except with glowing blue carrots... so I asked him about it and it turned out to be really fun and cool. Okay, heh. sorry. I will call you SP.

Touhou is among some of the strangest games around. Sure, it's like Alien Invasion, but it's literally a thousand times like that (which is why Touhou games are called "Bullet curtain" or "bullet hell" games.) It's the type of games (with big tunes) that just kinda drags you in and keeps you in. Not a bad thing, though.

SP? Sure, I'll take that.
No point for two English-speaking people to call each other by a Japanese honorific unless one of actually speaks Japanese, right?
On the same note, what do I call you? GamerGeek?

(In the French-speaking circles, "sinistrose" can either mean a Left-turned sugar or someone who is malingering. I don't think anyone would want a name like that...)

Glad to hear that you found the little explanation interesting. And you might also say I'm glad to see you took enough of an interest to want to look up what the name means. Much obliged!
