I am in love with this design, its got enough style to be imaginative, but it also touches on some of the "harder" sci fi aspects of spaceship designs. Bravo.

Probably under tensile rather than compressive force, assuming the engine pulls the rest along.

This sort of construction is actually a much more sound design than most of the crap you see in Hollywood space-fantasy.

Spacecrafts are not boats or airplanes and they do not follow the same engineering principles.

Saving mass is one of the most important concerns in spacecraft designs.
