"Tutti Frutti!" (what is this bullcrap about not being allowed to have exclamation marks in the title? Boo-urns)I love "Tutti Frutti" by Little Richard
He's the bomb. Long Tall Sally too.Anyway, this was done to be sold as a postcard-sized print at another art auction at uni. The theme was "Shake, Rattle and Roll", like 50's rock n' roll, or rock n' roll in general. Love it
Tried to blend old and new, and the rainbow colours I thought were appropriate for "Tutti Frutti"

it seems i cant write a critique. but informally: I love it..
Colourful, yet simple poster like quality. the lapping of colours definitely brings in ideas of 60's and screen printing for me, even though it isn't exactly 50's it is contemporary POP art like... could relate it to stencil graffiti works too. Aging of background colour adds in good effect too. Also like how the mismatched placement of colour creates a echo quality, very celebratory towards the great movements of music of the age..

Originally it had just blue, red and white with a bunch of stars - gave it a slightly more 50s feel, but I thought the multi-coloured approach much better matched the whole "Tutti Frutti" thing

well i reckon the option you went with is much more effective. by limiting the colours to red white and blue with stars gets extremely american.. and it is like implying that the 50's only took place in america. well it is true that the majority of it was influenced by america, but that effect took world wide. so the multi-colours in my opinion is much more effective for a international audience XD

Nicely done, it's flamboyant, colorful, and expressive, as it should be. Every time I think of this song I cannot help but be reminded of The Brave Little Toaster, and I'm still trying to figure out if that's a good thing. On a side note, I agree with you completely about the exclamation point thing. It really gets in the way sometimes. After all, how can one deliver their witty one-liner if they don't have the proper punctuation to exclaim it? I don't think they let question marks in titles either. Shame, shame, shame.

Also, wierd question, and I'm sorry it's not related to your artwork in any way. I have this thing that I've done for...countless years now....when I dislike something I say "boo-urns" because of that one episode of simpons where everyone is booing mr. burns. Smithers tells mr. burns that everyone is probably saying "boo-urns" no "boo." Of course, burns doesn't believe him, then it focuses on hans moleman (aka the best character ever) and he says "I was saying boo-urns." And I don't think I've ever laughed so hard at a simpsons joke. I've been saying it for years now, and I've never heard anyone else say it or understand why the hell i say it all the time (I never bother explaining, i just let my friends think i'm crazy).
However, if that is not why you said "boo-urns" in your artists comments, I am sorry for having wasted your time and completely wierding you out.
