It's surprisingly easy. xX;; I used Photoshop Elements, so if you don't have that, I dunno. @___@
Basically, you just open a new canvas, and draw on the first transparent layer instead of the background...just...draw something...in black. Black will be a full-value, gray will be a lighter color, etc etc...
Anyway, you draw your brush shape, then select it. Go to edit > Define Brush and name your brush. It'll be added to whatever brush folder you're working from at the moment. But as soon as you close Photoshop, it erases the brush. xX;; So, say the brush is in the "Calligraphy" menu. Delete all the other brushes, then hit the right-pointing arrow and select "Save Brushes".
When you want all the calligraphy brushes back, just hit "Reset brushes". XD
