As Kerchak grows, so does his curiosity about the world. Mostly about the other fawnlings he doesn't know. He frequently watches them pass by and has discovered the different roles members have to play.
Although his coat had grown much lighter as the first snow fell and he blended into the scenery, most of the passing fawnlings knew he was there. But they didn't worry about a young fawn. It was common knowledge in the herd that Kerchak's mother was odd. Few knew the truth about why she left, and those that knew didn't want either her or her son to return.
