Description
Tim Burton movies might be strange, but are very fun to watch, when stand alone or with other companies, like DC and Disney. These are my top 10 favorite Tim Burton movies that I recommend giving a watch or a rewatch if you've seen them
Spoiler alerts, turn back if you don't like that!
1. Charlie And The Chocolate Factory: I really love this one, especially after recently watching it again, and it did make me think of when I read the book years ago. It for sure one of Johnny Depp's better roles in this movie, and I do love this one over the older movie, mostly for the pretty depressing backstory in it to explain Willy a little more, especially since he wasn't as much of a jerk in this one compared to the original
2. Coraline: This movie was quite different from the book, though both are equally strange, both worth the viewing. It was a pretty disturbing movie, and the Beldam is one of my favorite villains to come from movies in general, the only thing knocking it off of the first place spot was Wybie, who was not in the book and was highly annoying, most people I know usually agreeing with me on that.
3. Sleepy Hollow: This movie was one of the best versions of I've seen of the Sleepy Hollow tale, whether from other movies, books, or TV specials, since this one was quite different than other versions, like how the horseman was controlled by who had his skull, and the the story of how the horsemen was killed was pretty fascinatingΒ to see. The thing I didn't like was the villain and that the story did get a little slow at parts
4. Paranorman: This movie was a great watch, being by many of the same writers who did Coraline, and was just as strange as this movie. It had a creepy plot and I love the setting, but it was a little slow compared to Coraline, which is why it's ranking is where it is
5. Sweeney Todd: If you don't like a lot of blood, I'd give this movie a pass, but the backstory and plot was a pretty interesting one I'd say, but I wasn't super fond of how this movie ended, while the rest was really good
6. Alice In Wonderland: This was a great telling of this story, some parts hinting at the old poems that created all the telling of the story, and I even saw hints of the old animated Disney film. Some of the scenery and parts in the movie did disturb me though to where it was hard to watch, but it's still overall a great movie
7. Batman Returns: This is my favorite batman movie, since it had the best version of Catwoman and Penguin I've seen, and it's a very fun watch. However, some characters in this movie really annoyed me, to make me not want to rank it higher, but it's still a good movie to watch
8. Alice Through The Looking Glass: This was a pretty good sequel, since it's hard to find sequels that don't have a reputation for being awful movies, however this one was worth the watch, but was still not as good as its predecessor
9. The Corpse Bride: Like Coraline and Paranorman, this movie was also pretty creepy and strange with the plot line and characters, making it really like it, except for one thing and it was the main character, since I found him to be rather annoying, but if you can get passed that, it's a good movie to watch
10. The Nightmare Before Christmas: I know many are going to come at me for this one being last on this list, but that's the big problem I have with this movie. It's not a bad movie, especially since it's focuses on the two big holidays of Halloween and Christmas, but my problem is that since it's literally everywhere, I find this movie to be pretty overrated and it badly overshadows any other Tim Burton movie whether good or bad, and many are really worth seeing, but because of that, it's going to be last place for me
Do you like any of these movies, or agree with my list and reasons? What are your thoughts or favorite movies by Tim Burton?
