Well, gelatin is better for burns than glue and is more flexible, but it also dries out after a while. If you wear it long enough for it to dry completely it can be quite painful to remove without a hot water soaking.
My best suggestion is to use gelatin, and while it is still soft apply a layer or two of liquid latex over the top. This will keep the gelatin from hardening fast. I've worn this combination on my face all day with hardly any discomfort.

Oooh. You want to make Mello's scar. Well, gelatin wouldn't be that great for that then. Gelatin is far to gooey and fresh looking for a burn scar. Burn scars generally aren't raised or very bumpy, just stretched and discolored looking. Liquid latex could give you the stretched look, but since you don't want to mess with it just flesh tone makeup may be the way to go. I guess you could add small bumps here and there with glue, just not in places that stretch a lot.

Thanks for the tip. I'll keep it into consideration. I'll continue referencing pictures of actual scars as well, and see how it goes.

Your tutorials have been really interesting. Not like I have any LL, but I'll get some someday :0.

Thank you for grossing me out again. D=
It's a good thing I live out in no man's land where no one trick-or-treats because I would probably scare the fake teeth out of some people with these tuts of yours.
Nice job.

I have a question!
I live in romania, and I'm not entirely sure we have elmer's glue here. What kind of glue is it? Is it the kind that is easily washable, like acrylic clay or something? Or the kind that you have to scrub your face with a knife to take it off?
Thanks!

Just think white glue. Like, craft glue or something you used when you were a kid and glued construction paper together. I remember as a kid I would just pour this stuff on my hands and rub it around to watch it come off in sheets. So, yeah, it does come off pretty easily.

Thanks! We don't have stuff like that, just the kind that never comes off without a chunk of your skin. Oh well.. I'll use gelatine or something
