It's not only the loss of funny memes. It's a vital blow against freedom and justice. Without free internet, the revolutions in Egypt and Libya would never had happened.

You just can't compare the hardships of Egypt and Libya to our first world problems. In America middle class (the most internet obsessed) our biggest concerns are so trivial that it has become quite ridiculous. I'm not saying I don't love the internet, but I'm frightened about how attached we've become to it. When we actually use the internet for something worthwhile, then I would be worried about it being restricted.

You have a point. We're very attached to our internet, and most of us usually don't use it to do important stuff. But it's still an important community that allow us to show what we think. I'm a fifthteen-year-old, stuck out in the middle of nowhere, outside the united states. Without a free internet, I would barely know what happened outside my neighbourhood. And I'm not comparing Egypts and Libyas problems to ours: I just say that if it wasn't for their access to a free and unrestricted internet, a revolt hadn't happened in a very long time.
