“Homunculus!” was Nessa’s last word and then the light grew brighter, and then bluer, as it swept across the wisped grass and trembling hills. Before Leah could make a move she felt a weight on her chest that pushed into her an icy stream of what felt like a million tiny shards of glass, shredding through her veins. As she was struck down the blue light filled her vision until she could no longer see, but only hear. She heard many voices, but it was so hard for her to focus in on any one voice in particular, for the light was painful and somehow loud as well.
At last one voice became clear and was quickly accompanied by a face, one she was alarmed to see. It was Edward, or at least her creation that she had thought was Edward.

His eyes were wild, his face twisted, and his smile ever growing. He spoke in a voice so familiar yet echoing with an ominous murkiness, making it clear to Leah that Nessa was right, this was not Edward. “Time for love, time for friends, but like all things, your time will end. Time for lies and time for sorrow, which today won’t have a tomorrow? With this mark your time is set, so I may be your greatest regret. Your limb not payment full the sum, so years from your soul now make it done.”

With these words carved into her memory, the now half vanished figure dispersed into the light and was gone.
The long exchange winded down and the few seconds that took place over hours all came to fruition. Leah saw Nessa shouting with her hands together, her warm rose light cutting through the blue one. She saw Riley and Marik in a state of absolute shock and helplessness watching on. And finally, she saw the monster she had created still ever smiling as the remains of his body and horrid face disintegrated into the abyss of Nessa’s rose light.
It would be the last time Leah ever saw this soft light of Nessa, and as she was taken in by its warmth she somehow knew that her life, and the lives of everyone rushing to her side, would now never be the same.

Love how it all came together, with the story and the artwork!
The little incantation that the Homunculus says is great.
