Angry.

Hell, he was angry. Angrier than ever before.

Some unknown...whatever had gotten up his nose and practically dragged him here. Now he was faced with some weirdo holding a glowing crystal and Jacob giving him, what he could tell even as a wolf, a knowing look as though he was expected.

'Jake, what the f*** is this?' the short-fused wolf demanded. The scene had done such a good job of taking him by surprise that he had forgotten that he had just revealed himself as a giant wolf. 'You know the rules, are you crazy?!'

'I’m following a different rulebook these days.' Was all he got back. What was that supposed to mean? Never mind. They’d go over this later with Sam. Being the alpha, he was the one who could set Jake straight. Then they’d “deal” with this guy.

'Whatever, tell this wimp to take a hike and let’s get back to patrol or have you forgotten that those leeches could show up at any time?!' he growled out unprepared for the much angrier growl that sounded from Jacob’s chest. None of this made sense. He knew one thing though. Right now, they needed to put as much distance between them and that crystal. He was sure that was what was causing him to be so careless. And if it was affecting him so quickly, no wonder Jake was acting so weird. His thoughts were interrupted as Jacob phased back to human before putting on the shorts that were lying on the ground.

“Sorry Paul, but that’s got nothing to do with me anymore unless my Master says so. I’m his warrior wolf, my place is by his side” he said, with an air of conviction and a hand on his heart, almost as if he had been reciting the national pledge.

Now Paul knew Jake must have completely flipped and felt his anger rise to enormous proportions and directing itself at the one responsible who choose now to speak.

“Alright, before an argument starts, let’s move this along”. Jake spun around, looking apologetic, but a raised hand stopped him from whatever he was about to say. “For now, Paul, I think you should just listen.”

Not a second later said weirdo began chanting causing the crystal in his hand to emit an intense light blinding him and making it hard to think. He desperately tried to close his ears off to the nonsense, but it felt like every syllable spoken was penetrating his skull making it harder to think. The shit the bastard was spouting was fogging up his brain even more. Suddenly he was overcome by new urges, to kneel, to sit, to stay put...anything as long as this guy was the one who told him to do it.
Hell, WHAT WAS THIS?!!!!! Jake clearly had to be saved from this nutjob...but...he hadn’t been given permission to save Jake. Permission?!! He didn’t need f***ing permission.

The silver wolf gave a deep growl before shaking his head in a futile attempt to clear it.

Darn he was so confused, he had to save Jake, kill that bastard...obey that bastard, obe..what, no!

His memories, his desires, his anger ...he couldn’t grasp any of them and yet somehow now they seemed...pointless.

Somehow he had phased back into his human self while trying to make sense of these thoughts and now a pair of arms were holding him still before he felt something being slipped around his neck and then he was released.

A wave of completion and pride swept over him so fiercely, engulfing him and pushing away any doubt or lingering unnecessary feelings towards others he might have felt. A powerful love and sense of purpose filled his heart eclipsing all else .

And it felt.....FANTASTIC!

Suddenly he understood.

Now the world made sense.

'Just listen.'

And listen he would.

Serve, protect and love his master.

A warrior’s oath.

A lover’s bliss.
