I think it works well without the crying child, the bear alone works as a symbol of childhood and allows for the concept to be conveyed subtly. I like how you've decided to use black and white tones, along with the angle the bear is hanging, really push for an emphasis on the uncomfortable feeling that is being carried out through what is actually happening to the bear. However, I feel that there needs to be more light directed onto the bear as it is the centre piece for the composition, rather than on the fence and garden. You should also re-categorize it under the "Conceptual" area
Overall this is a very striking piece, and you've done very well in capturing it
