LOL It isn't really a dog. It is more like a wolf. Of Africa. I am unsure why their common name says they are dogs; their scientific name means Painted Wolf!

Painted dogs are canines. Hyenas aren't. They're closer related to cats XD lolz

Hyenas and Wild Dogs have completly different bone structure and are a different species entirely.
