I had a big huge explanation all nicely typed up but my computer decided that it wasn't okay to let me submit it or save the text.This is for a contest at South Park Suicide, a macabre South Park group. The theme was psychological breakdowns.
In a nutshell:
Butters takes people's crap because he can wait until karma comes around and hits them tenfold (remember his speech to his grandmother about bullying?) If he snapped, he'd lose that patience so he'd start breaking everybody else.
Probably starting with Eric Cartman. And Butters knows all about the skeletons in his closet, especially since a lot of them were personified and projected onto stuffed animals. Cartman had to trick himself into disposing of those toys, so Butters could have a lot of fun by watching Cartman squirm as mass stuffed animal murder was committed and he played head games.
Miss Kitty's just his scapegoat. And the most terrifying part is that Butters knows what the other person is feeling and probably empathizes in some strange way even though he's causing the hurt. Hence the unreadable expression. You can take that as you will.
So this entry is both Butters in the midst of a breakdown and Cartman's trigger for one.

I really enjoy the concept for this! What's mildly amusing is that you and *NothingYouCouldLove both had the idea of Butters losing his grip and I just love that. This would have been a really cool twist on that episode - I almost wish this had been true ;;

Oh, yeah!! I remember reading theirs! It's funny that we had two completely different ideas as to what Butters would do even though we chose the same character.
Honestly, Butters is a character that I do not ever actualy want to see *truly* snap because that's bad for not only him, but everyone around him- I mean, Kyle can get violent but then it's over, and Cartman only does things *he* can get enjoyment out of, and then he quits (also he reverse-cares about his "victims" if he toys with them long enough and can actually be kind of sweet when in a truly terrible position so while he's scary, he's not so dangerous once broken wide open)and Garrison and Randy would just cry all the time or be laughing, mindless madmen.
Wendy would be ultra-vindictive, but only towards her immediate agressors.
To me, it's Stan, Craig, Kenny, and Butters that make the idea of psych breakage truly terrifying. Granted, this all depends on the circumstances of the breakage. (Like, Kyle has ripped Clyde Frog's head off before but I don't think he'd ever have the sheer hatred it would take to drive it home to Cartman that he's a murderer and betrayer of the worst degree- he calls names, but he doesn't make him *feel* it.)

I've actually written an old fanfiction where Craig snapped! Craig, Kenny, and Butters are my favorite to fantasize about with a true psyche break, but I think if Cartman broke it would be far more violent and destructive than any of the others.

Cartman would be immediately terrifying, but I feel like it'd recess into sobs of the most pathetic degree. (But he's a very broad kind of loose cannon, so... I mean, any interperetation works for him, I think)

It was when I was just getting into south park 'shipping' and looking back, I had a lack of understanding about ships and I kind of just shipped everything ;; It was for a friend, if this is any excuse XD
We did a fanfic trade and she wanted a Craig/Kenny/Cartman love triangle and I wrote Craig unintentionally finding Kenny and Cartman in a 'situation' and fucking losing it, first going through phases of self torment because he himself doesn't feel like he'd been good enough and wondering where he went wrong, then going on to really.. go after Kenny and Cartman for causing such a rift in his psyche.

Like. I was odd about shipping? I shipped in a way that looking back I am ashamed of it haha. I shipped too much, too romantically. I've seriously grown past of it, but there's a lot of old art and fictions that I'm really embarrassed by and I deleted almost every fanfiction I ever wrote. The only one's that made it past are scattered on here on my DA and a few on FF.
