Cool idea. I think that I may have tried to do something similar to this once, only the faces were together as a whole. I'll say it didn't turn out well for me.
Hmm... but you executed it very well. It's simplistic, though still manages to catch the eye. A little more colour would be nice. The eyes are gorgeous, too.
