Rodan is the last of great race of pterosaurs much larger then Quetzalcoatlus and Ornithoceirus, the largest know species we had on record. In ancient days, Rodan's species were the predator of Megaguirus' species, helping to make sure the insects wouldn't upset the ecosystem. In 1956, Rodan was awakened from hibernation in Kyushu, Japan when he sensed the presence of Megaguirus as she terrorized the mining village of Kitamatsu. Rodan immediately attacked the dragonfly and engaged her in an aerial dogfight, which took them to Fukuoka. In the end the city was demolished, Megaguirus forced into retreat and Rodan took to the Japanese Alps to rest and recover. In 1964, Rodan was awakened when King Ghidorah crashed landed on Earth. He came across the recently awakened Godzilla and the two began battling each other over territorial dominance. Their fight was eventually broken up by the arrival of Mothra and Anguirus, whom had also awakened because of Ghidorah. All four kaiju, along with the newly hatched Mothra larvae were able to soundly best the King of Terror and force him off-world. Since then Rodan has been seen near the northern areas of the Pacific in the summer and the tropical parts in winter. This seems to indicate he follows the migratory habits of some birds.
