THROW ME IN A SKIP AND LOCK IT SHUT BECAUSE I AM SENTIENT GARBAGE WHOOPThis was my first ever time doing a serious drawing of Kirby, and I'm quite pleased! The first technical time was just a shitpost-quality doodle. I'm very pleased with how I did on the shading on him, except I couldn't really shade his bag--I had a job as it was getting the base shade even remotely right.
Yeah, Perc enjoys riding around on top of him because come on, he makes a very handy platform. She wraps her cord around his support pole for added security. In the first film he actually kind of likes having her there, but of course he doesn't say that to her or anybody else. In the sequels, after he's loosened up a bit, he's more open about enjoying her being there.

Kirby is my favorite too. I just rediscovered this movie after having almost completely forgotten about it for many years, and I grew fond of him so quickly.

Thank you!! I've been meaning to redraw this digitally, actually, I'm not too fond of how I drew Kirby's face. XD But anyways; I don't blame you, Kirby's been my favourite since I was about five. That's the same way it went for me--we saw the DVD in a discount bin and bought it just for fun, and then I rewatched it and that was the end of that. XD

For me, when I first watched the movie as a little kid, actually Lampy was my favorite, but now after rewatching it as an adult, it is Kirby, very much. There is just something about him... how he is so tough and grumpy on the outside, but actually cares very much about the others, he just doesn´t like to admit it. But the times it shows it is all the more heartwarming.
I also like your character Perc. When I saw a comic with her by another artist, how she didn´t want Kirby to know that she is in love with him, I somehow had to imagine her singing "I won´t say I´m n love" from Disney´s Hercules. And then the comic´s creator told me you had actually Megara´s voice actor in mind for Perc? That´s so fitting then! ^^

You know what? If there ever was another sequel (not that I believe any of this will happen though) I would actually really like it if some female appliance fell in love with Kirby. It would be interesting to watch how he would deal with that, and a good chance for him to get more in touch with his feelings... character developement!

Ah, you are not the only one (and I am glad to know that I am not the only one too)... he is my newest fictional character crush. Can´t help it. A vacuum cleaner. But it is the personality that matters... it´s WHO he is, not WHAT he is.
A few days ago I all of a sudden realized that all the fictional characters I ever had a crush on are... old. Not necessarily old in-canon, like age-wise, altough most of them are that, too, more or less. No, I mean, they are from old franchises and have been around for decades. Makes me wonder why newer franchises don´t seem able to make characters I can fall in love with. XD

Oh, and I think you might like this: Do you know that fanfiction in which Kirby and Toaster are turned into humans, with Toaster being a woman? It is one of my very favorite TBLT fanfictions. At first Kirby hates being human and blames Toaster for it all but later they discover new feelings they never had before and fall in love...
I love it, it satisfies my fangirl heart so much and it is very well written, too.

May I ask you something?
Since you have an OC that has a crush on Kirby... would it be ok if my OC had a crush on Kirby too, or would that look like a lame imitation? Of course my character as such is different enough from yours and her approach would be more... awkward but still, would it be okay? I also don´t want Perc and my character fight over Kirby, but my OC doesn´t really believe she will ever be together with him anyway, just swoon over him all by herself, maybe she accepts that Perc has "older rights" or something...
But since Kirby is my obsession in this fandom and my OC´s interaction with him could lead to some funny awkward scenes I kind of wanted to do this... just want to know if it´s okay for you...

XD Also, from what you say, it sounds like you want to integrate Perc into your personal headcanon verse. I'm definitely honoured that you like her enough to do that ^^ However, I do ask that you come to me with any questions you have about her if you're going to be producing anything that concerns her. Sorry, but the first time I had someone want to put one of my OCs into their fanfic, it was an unqualified disaster and I've been a bit protective since then.

Hmm. Well I suppose that would depend on whether or not she knew. How good would your character be at hiding it?

Well... Cantarella (as my character is supposed to be named) will try her best to hide it as she is actually rather introvert and fears rejection. But she is also kind of awkward and so she sometimes can´t help to let something slip, especially when Kirby just did something brave or heroic she would say things like "That was awesome!" or "You are so brave!" that may those who are observant give a hint. But as she does not believe she will ever be together with him anyway (she is too shy to try, maybe she even fears an actual relationship and really prefers to dream of him in silence by herself) she would accept Perc´s claim on him, not least because Perc was there first, and just be content swooning over him in silence by herself.
As for her cover slipping when Kirby is being brave... maybe he saved her life once? I could include that into her backstory, maybe. Then this genius.com/The-murder-of-my-sw… would be her song for him. Perc has Megara´s "I won´t say I´m in love" and Cantarella would have "Tonight" be The Murder Of My Sweet. Hmm, what do you think?

In that case, I think she'd notice it eventually. I don't think she'd say anything to Cantarella herself about it, because (depending on when exactly Cantarella comes along) Perc either knows that it's ultimately Kirby's choice and that she can't and shouldn't do anything to dissuade Cantarella from pursuing her feelings, or she knows that it's apparent that she and Kirby have already acknowledged their feelings for one another and that there's nothing any of them can really do about that either. Perc would still try to make her feel welcome among the group though, to make sure she didn't feel like an intruder and that she belonged. As for the song, I think it fits~ Kirby is definitely the type to risk his own life to save his friends.

Aww, that´s nice of Perc. Maybe she and Cantarella could have been friends if they weren´t in love with the same man... or maybe they still could, despite that. After all, as you say, it would be Kirby´s choice. (Though Cantarella probably wouldn´t believe he could really like her - self-esteem problems all the way?)
Well, Cantarella would definitely come along after the adventure in the first movie, and possibly even after the sequels. But I´m sure sooner or later she would hear about everything that happened then and how brave Kirby was when he saved his friends.

And yes, after the first film is when Kirby and Perc have already acknowledged their feelings for one another. It's definitely not out of the realm of possibility for the gang to tell old stories to Cantarella.

It´s good that she and Perc can still be friends, and I´m sure Cantarella can also be just friends with Kirby. But he will always have a special place in her heart as the hero of her dreams.
Well, the she will be happy for them both, she didn´t let her hopes get high anyway.
In this case, Eponine´s song "On my own" from Les Miserables could also be a fitting song choice for her, although Cantarella is nowhere near as tragic as Eponine, just a little sad and hopelessly romantic.
Maybe she can find another love someday and learn a little more self esteem.
The good thing is, I can always make my own AU where there is only the canon characters and my characters so she can have Kirby all for herself, but for now it is more fun for me to have her exist in the same universe as the other fan characters. She could probably be happier in that AU though. Maybe I will do that someday.

I didn´t intend to make Cantarella´s story a sad one all full of unrequited love, I´ll find a way to make her happy. For now, she has her friends and books.
And I think she exists both in this universe and in my own one; I always like to think about people´s headcanons that each of them is its own alternate universe that coexist alongside each other. You know, multiple universe theory.

Oh, she was beside herself with fear. Basically when he started talking nonsense she realised that something was very wrong and she kind of froze, trying to think of what to do, and then when he started choking on his cord she tried to pull it out of his mouth. She helped Toaster push him around to bring him back to consciousness. When he woke back up she was insanely relieved but still trembling a bit from the residual fear. That's most of what I have right now--I still haven't ironed out some of the finer details.

Me too, that got me the most as a kid--I remember it being frightening even to the point of being a bit sickening.
Yeah, I think it was a fear/stress-induced seizure. The cord was a metaphor for his tongue, from an old myth that a person having a seizure will swallow their own tongue. That's impossible, of course.
