Description
As promised. I fixed this group shot of our favourite aviators at *AgiVega 's suggestion. And I added an unreleased character... see, there is little Emily! Just as promised.I know it isn't how she appears in the last books, because she's a woman now, but I sketched her after reading the first book, and she was quite the tomboy.
The same happens with Granby, he wears a first Liuternant jacket for the same reason; I was reading the Throne of Jade when I penciled him.From left to right, Lt. John Granby (later Cpt. Grnaby of Ishkierka), Emily Roland, Cpt. Jane Roland of Excidium, Cpt. William Laurence of Temeraire, Cpt. Catherine Harcourt of Lily, Cpt. Thomas Berckeley of Maximus and Cpt. James from Volatilus.

BERKLEY ALL THE WAY! Where is Janes Scar from her left eye to her lips very generously depicted in the book? Left eye scar to her lip effects her smile makes it like a smirk i would so love to see a dead accurate one D:. Not that im in any way bashing this beautiful piece ^_^

At the moment I drew it I couldn't remeber the exact description of the scar, it is still there but it is somewhat smaller.

Because I drew them separately first. And, (Rankin too) she was first sketched without her jacket, that is the uniform clothes all of them would have under it.

Heh. Jane looks like she stepped right out of Disney's Treasure Planet! Just due to the art style...
Anyways, it is a neat style. And props for giving them a variety of face & body types! 'Specially like how you did the supporting characters. Harcourt and Berckeley look great.

Yeah... I noticed that about Jane right after I posted it here for the first time... Apparently I'm the only one who's not seen the movie. I must've seen her somewhere, movie trailer or something, and subconsciously liked Cpt. Amelia a lot.
Harcourt was, in fact, the first caracter to come out of my magic pen...

I drew this mostly after His Majesty's Dragon. Tharkay wasn't there. And neither was he there in the Throne of Jade, which is when I finished it.
And honestly... please mercy (I am shouting in advance for your compassion)... I don't like him much. And I can't even begin to think how to draw him... I don't even have a clear image of him. But I find the Hawk cool

He's creepy. I don't know why he seems so to me, because I usually like the mysterius, secretive a bit forbidding guys. But in this case... I have the hunch that it has to do with Laurence. He's the prota and he's complicated enough, and the good guy on top... feels like Tharkay's mysteriousness is a bit unnecessary. It simply doesn't call to me. (In other stories, when the protagonist is so plain... with no emotional complications, so vulgar... then an interesting secondary can steal the limelight, but not in this case)...
Sometimes i can't understand how I can "talk" this much.

I feel the same - he's mysterious, but I don't see its point and that's bothering me - he's indeed creepy. Sometimes - at least based on fanfics - I tend to believe that he has feelings for Laurence which kinda... disturbs me. In fanfics I can accept it, but I seriously hope it doesn't happen in canon! I just can't see Laurence turning gay.

God, I'd don't think so... not to worry... as pathetic as it sounds I don't think editorials would let Novik do that.
But it's a fact that I don't like him. He's too much of a mish-mash.

Haven't read them, honestly. I avoid anythign Tharkay-related. 
there aren't many fanfiction sites about Temeraire online, aren't they. I've only ever seen FF.net

Well, I must admit I avoided Tharkay-related fics at first, but when I saw that there were barely any Temeraire fics to read that weren't Tharkay-related, I eventually gave in, and found a few that were really nice.
Btw, here's a Temeraire fanfic archieve with many fics - sure, many are slash, but you can find a few decent Laurence/Jane and Temeraire/Iskierka ones as well, or ones that don't have romance at all. I particularly liked "The True Duty of Patriots". It says it's Laurence/Granby, but in fact it's not slashy at all, it's just about friendship.

Ah... yes I'd skimmed over them... I'll look at them with a kinder eye as lon as it is nothing threesome-like. That just does me in. And I read "The True Duty of Patriots", and I agree it is very good.

I also recommend to read "Coming Home" (a beautiful-touching L/Jane fic) and "Excitable" (a hilarous Iskierka/Temeraire fic). These two and the one I mentioned yesterday are my favourites from this LJ site.
