Description I bought ~yarndog 's Carmen wig a while back and decided to do some make-up with it this Monday, considering I hadn't touched a paintbrush to my skin since I visited ~BreachofReality earlier this summer. The design is sort of a femme Skimble/Munkus hybrid, I suppose?

Anyhow, I'm calling her Daffydilly, just because. She seems like a daffy little flower, no?

More shots are here . Forgive the quality of some them and the wild lighning inconsistencies - my mom somehow changed the settings on my camera while she was photographing me, and it was almost dusk outside at the time, so some of them came out a bit too dark or blurry.

Make-up is 100% Snazaroo, created entirely through traditional, not digital means. No Photoshopping save for the watermark.

I looove thej shot! You look amazing!
And just a stoopid question what is the wig made of? Is it like a normal wig but re-painted or sth else? I was wondering that for quite a long time

Thank you. =]

This particular wig is made out of crepe wool, which is a natural (but softer and more economical) fiber that is similar in appearance to yak hair, the material used for authentic CATS wigs. Some of the other wigs in my gallery are made with yarn, though.

Aha. And do you make them yourself? And if do could you explain how Sorry that I'm asking that much but I'm just curious - I was wondering if I could make one myself - I just love making costumes ^^ (I'm apologizing again for being annoying)

I do, but this particular wig was made by ~yarndog .

And you're not being annoying at all; we all have to start somewhere. =] If you're interested in CATS costuming, you should go here: The Cats Costuming Discussion Board We're a semi-large group of costumers who share our work and techniques, and there's a wealth of information already available. (My username is Cooking Spray there.)

Another good site, run by one of our members, is Lady Jemima's . It has a ton of tutorials and information on supplies.

I wish you luck and encourage your ambition. =]

Aw, thank you.

As for Miss Brightman, I neither love nor loathe her.

I think the only thing she was decent in was REPO! And she's the reason people no longer cast blonds as Christine in Phantom, when in the books she's Swedish and blond. T_T;

What costumes are you working on lately?

shoujome In reply to lunaladyoflight [2009-08-29 20:51:01 +0000 UTC]

I did like her in Repo!, too, although I couldn't make out half of her lyrics due to the register she sings at, to be quite honest. It's unreal. (And yeah, Christine in the PotO silent film looked like Heidi!)

I'm working on finishing a Broadway Bomba costume with a lovely uni and gloves furnished by Roxanne, and also a Cassandra. I'm also revamping both Jemima and Deme for FC. =]

Cool makeup. Looks like you are ready to sing the song "Memories."

Thanks! Unfortunately, I don't quite have the pipes for the singing, but I like to pretend in the shower anyhow.

Mllrg973 In reply to shoujome [2009-08-29 13:47:17 +0000 UTC]

LOL ok The singing requires quite some range, that is why Sarah Brightman was chosen for the part

shoujome In reply to Mllrg973 [2009-08-29 13:52:20 +0000 UTC]

Sarah Brightman was Jemima in the Original Longdon Cast, actually, not Grizabella - that was Elaine Paige. She does still have a part in the song, though.

Thanks for the information, I knew that she was in the play, but I did not know that she did not sing the song. I only heard her do the song and though she did so in the play.

You're welcome. =] It's an easy mistake to make, as I know she's covered the song on a couple of her albums, and those costumed photos of her floating about can be quite ambiguous to a non-fan.

I am a fan of Sarah Brightman, but not too familiar with her work in that play. I know that she did have some early albums out before 1987 that were just albums of her singing and are kind of rare and unique. One of them has her singing along with a piano to some songs that are very different. She went through a lot of experimentation in early years before she got set in with the sound she has today. It was not until she came to America and had vocal training with Ellen Faull that she got her place in the field of classical and opera.

Unfortunately, last year, Ellen Faull died at the age of 90. She taught voice up until her dying day. I remember the day I found out about it, very sad day. The woman that gave Sarah her beautiful voice was no more.

We are only around this world for a short time, we need to make the best of the time we have here, tomorrow is not guaranteed.
