i suggested this deviation because this design-work was very nice.. everythings on it, the elements, textures, objects and colors-tone.. really warm and enjoyable.. you know there some categories on web-design, and i think this deviation is very welldone for the clean-simple category.

A Daily Deviation should be the absoloute peak of refinement in the particular category. There are basic and amateur mistakes in this that a professional designer wouldn't make.
It isn't a matter of style, its a matter of the lack of application of basic design principles which everyone defending this seems to ignore or not understand completely (or defend it on certain ones and pretend the others weren't mentioned).
We're not saying it's a "bad" design, we're saying it isn't anywhere near good enough yet for a DD.

I don't know why all the hatin', I happen to like this. Fresh, bright, easy to read, simple and yet it has enough texture to keep it interesting. You've drawn from the sleek porfessional style but given it a different twist. It caught my eye. As I'm prepping to build my own website, you can bet I'll be storing this away for inspiration.

Just because your not pursuing web design as a career doesn't meant you can't learn semantics of web designing. I know many bloggers who aren't doing it for a career but still make their web designs to the standards of XHTML and other parts essential to a good design.
I would take the same great care with anything that required good knowledge of it, to work it.

Nobody is actually critiquing the person, just telling them that it sucks. No idea why it does. Is there not enough grunge for you? Not loud enough? Are the colours too plain? The design doesn't shout out like it should? Seriously, man. Be a little descriptive instead of accusing someone of not knowing anything. This design looks an awful lot like a million other things I've seen out there, so either everyone is wrong, or nobody is.

It's just plain and unoriginal and few others have said what it lacks, no white space etc. There is also nothing to make it stand out from a crowd which is what DD should before. And I don't know why you're attacking me when there's others below who have said far worse than I.

Attacking? No. Just yours was the least plain answer and pretty much accused the designer of not knowing what they're doing.
White space is plenty. I don't see anything crammed together or too much crammed into one space. Plenty of room. White space doesn't have to be white, obviously, but I'm assuming you already know that.
The design has a grid, and pretty much stuck to it. Not too many people have made their designs into a box of some sort, which makes it rather unique.
Menu is neat and organized, in a spot that also isn't done too often. Everything is legible and evenly spaced out.
I'd give a reply to everyone, but alas, I don't really feel the need to. Instead of saying that someone cannot design, it would be better to acknowledge there are different ways to do something, and while something may be boring, it may be aiming towards a different target market than you are in.

The things is DDs have been filled with this type of design. Plain white text body and wood background for months now which is why it comes across as boring and not original. Which is probably why everyone else is complaining.
And as you said that is just my opinion as that on why it's good, is just your opinion.

A good concept, but the implementation isn't great because of ignorance of basic design principles.
Theres no white space, padding is minimal, no baseline grid (in fact no grid at all), no alignment.
I suggest reading some of the articles of [link] to increase your knowledge in these areas.

To be honest, the real problem we have is with lemontea, he keeps giving DDs in an area he himself doesn't specialise.

White space isn't really non-existent here. If you think about it, everything isn't crammed together.
There is a grid, it's just a loosely based one. Not everyone keeps to a strict grid, nor should they have to.
There are a few issues with the site, but nothing life threatening.

There is no white space in terms of the fact that you have a grey box that ends right where the text inside it begins. It looks unclean and unprofessional.
Nevermind the fact that there is no line-leading specified (do people not know about that anymore?) so the lines of text stack on top of each other without any room to breathe (part of the grid system I was on about should work to solve this [there is a handy article on baseline grids on alistapart, go read it].
Alignment is non-existant, paragraphs begin at one point, then the next one is suddenly 20 pixels or so further in?! Some bit of text are centered and some aren't, but theres no clear distinguishing why there should be a case for doing this?
Usability is an issue because certain coloured text doesn't contrast enough with the background, so it becomes unreadable. Not only this but some text has a font-size of 10px or less, I don't even go less than 12 because people with eyesight issues will have problems.
Another point I would make is that the design doesn't really stand out because there is nothing there to really attract the eye. Adding a colourful or bright header won't ruin the simplicity of the design.

Grids are part of the basics of design, you need fairly strict grids for editorial design, and its only common sense to include it within Web Interfaces.

A DD should be the best of the best. Any issue is too many, it should be completely refined to the nth degree.
