My hand-painted, punk, Sailor Moon animation cel for the Saturday Morning show at Ltd. Art Gallery! This design has been running around my sketchbook for months now. Yes, everyone's doing it, but I DON'T CARE I just wanted to draw huge moon-shaped gauges. Deal with it.The show opened while I was at Comic-Con, so I've been pretty bad about getting the word out; nevertheless the show is up through August 24th, and you can still buy the piece online or in person!
I know it might sound like a lot, but I rarely have originals to sell and painting those tiny goddamn shoelaces was the death of me.

i like this design the best out of all the punk redesigns i've seen - you kept the colors and design more true (red boots, etc) while taking a lot of awesome liberties.. like those headspikes where she had the little round bead things. wowee

Man, I haven't tried mocking up a cel painting in nearly 20 years. Worth thinking about. Did you have the linework printed/copied to the acetate?

I printed it, yeah- way easier than inking it by hand.

it's not glass, it's transparent acetate- just opaque acrylics.
