(-) Manipulative, Liar, Insensitive, Blunt, Mean-spirited, Elusive, Childish
Despite his childlike appearance, Flynn actually has a dark personality, and believes that cheaters always prosper. He lets the bad traits show more than the good ones, sometimes on accident. He is a heavy liar, and quite manipulative. He even admits to this, saying to trust him if you dare. It's hard to tell when he's being genuine, and he pisses people off rather easily. Although, he doesn't lie for bad intentions all the time. Sometimes he lies because he feels that he has to. Other times, it's just him being a dick. Additionally, thanks to his excessive lying, Flynn can often tell when another person is fibbing, whether it be to someone else or simply themselves and ironically, he can't stand that. Flynn often manipulates people by either guilt tripping them or simply with a smart tongue. Even with this, he has a strong disliking towards blackmail, which he says is the lowest and most pathetic form of manipulation. His appearance often gives him an innocence and cuteness that you can't say no to, and he's quite aware of this, using this to his advantage almost constantly. Flynn is often seen as mean-spirited and insensitive, since he usually speaks his mind when he wants to. He enjoys pulling tricks on people and seems to be very blunt and straightforward, and butts into people's conversations. He likes making fun of others and causing chaos or mischief, and is sometimes sarcastic. Flynn sometimes reveals his apologizes to be lies, as he sees being apologetic would break his “cool”. While looking like a child, he tends to act like a child too. He sometimes pouts or gets upset when something goes wrong, similar to a spoiled child. This is usually just acting though, and used as another method of manipulation.
Even with his many, many flaws, Flynn is quite usually an optimistic or happy-go-lucky person. He wears a smile or smirk on his face, giving him either a confident or condescending vibe, depending on how the person takes it. While many argue that this just makes him double-sided because of his troublesome nature, he happens to say it's just another reason to like him. Flynn is very intelligent or quick-witted, and can think for himself. He has a knack for twisting people's words often because of this, and arguments with him can be frustrating. He is also quite self-aware, and he believes that he can depend on himself, and practically no one else, since he assumes a lot of people hate him, and many do. He has a charismatic charm, which is probably due to his looks. This makes him nearly borderline conceited, seeing as he compliments himself often when he gets insulted, but he usually just does this for good fun, or mischievous purposes.
“Haha! I lied again, but you should’ve seen your face! It was priceless!
Biography
In one of Reiphin’s allying countries, Flynn was born into a decent household as an only child. His family was not too poor and not too rich, and both his parents worked hard and long just to make enough money to support their home.
His father worked as a blacksmith, and his mother as a silversmith. His dad was a controlling man, and his mother simple soul. However, thanks to their hard working jobs, they were usually not around at home, nor did they speak to him often, both just not having the energy, patience, or will to care for their child. They were usually stressed anytime Flynn saw them, which lead to his parents fighting often, whether it be about their feelings, their child, or anything money related.
This left Flynn to be neglected and alone at a young age, and didn’t get any sort of important education when he was young. Nor did he get any sort of parental and support or guidance, causing his moral compass to be completely out of whack, lacking knowledge on what was right, and what was wrong.
Due to his bad morals, Flynn was a troubled child, gaining a double-sided personality and acting upon whatever he wanted to do. He was very disrespectful towards his parents, and caused mischief and many problems for his already stressed parents. His meddling and mischief mostly happened at home, as he usually trashed the place and made messes without realizing that it was wrong, and gained a habit of lying at a young age, a skill that he would continue to perfect as he grew. Surprisingly, he was quite proud of most of the things he did wrong, as in his eyes, he was just having fun, and didn’t quite understand why his parents were angry with him when he did something wrong. And it’s not like they tried correcting his bad deeds anyway, as he was just usually harshly scolded.
The problems he caused only continued to get worse and worse, and his parent’s patience were quickly wearing thin. In the end, on his twelfth birthday, his parents finally had enough when Flynn had nearly burnt the house down. His parents gave Flynn away to his great grandfather, whom lived in a small town in the country Reiphin. Flynn’s grandfather was an old and wise man who studied and worked with light magic for the longest time. It was more or less of a surprise to Flynn’s grandfather when Flynn was practically left at his doorstep, but he took the troublesome boy inside and raised him from there.
In the beginning, Flynn’s destructive ways didn’t change of course. He stubbornly ignored his grandfather’s attempts to educate him and learned how to steal and manipulate during his time in the town, gaining hate by many. However, this would change when he learned a piece of his grandfather’s history. Flynn learned that his grandfather had a son, Flynn’s uncle, who Flynn reminded him of. Flynn’s grandfather explained that his son died during the dragon’s rampage, more or less thanks to his own actions. Despite loving his son very much, he would rather not Flynn fall down a similar path, which explained why he hadn’t kicked out Flynn out to defend by himself by then. For the first time in awhile, Flynn felt bad, which surprised him greatly. He wasn’t sure what was so powerful about what his grandfather told him, but it did change him for the better.
This caused Flynn to slowly become willing to listen as his grandfather began to pass on his teachings to him on both knowledge and magic. His behavior wasn't completely tamed, since still caused mischief for nothing but his own amusement, but he soon became more self aware, now having an understanding of right from wrong. And his troublesome, double sided nature became more of just a show or form of entertainment for him.
As he continued to grow, his grandfather only wanted the best for his grandson. He explained to Flynn about the factions and both hinted and suggested that Flynn become a supporter of the one who claimed to be the long lost heir of the throne. For awhile, Flynn didn't care much about it, simply by ignorance or just not taking the whole thing seriously. He often kept putting off the suggestion, saying he'll find something better to do with his life or that his grandfather was crazy.
Flynn grew older, so did his grandfather, and when Flynn turned seventeen, his grandfather passed away. After that, he made due as a Page and took over his grandfather’s home, studying the works and ways of light magic and magic itself, educating himself. However, now that he was basically on his own, he was conflicted with his own way of thinking and what his grandfather had been suggesting him to do for such a long time. After giving the suggestion long thought, when he finally turned eighteen, he decided to leave his town, setting out to join the king's order, finally giving in to what his grandfather wanted for him.
"Wow, that was so stupid that it was actually kinda funny.”
