Family… They say that it’s only by relation to one another that this is true, but anyone who has formed a strong bond with one another will easily be comfortable enough to call one another a brother or a sister. It shouldn’t matter if you were from a different past than your nearest and dearest; what matters is that you met here and now and that you love each other enough to want to make each other happy. In a world where the meaning of love is often loosely thrown around, we could really learn from the fictitious worlds like those of Barrel Hill, the Mushroom Kingdom, and Yoshi’s Island, where happiness truly thrives and family means to stick up for one another through thick and thin. There’s a reason why Yoshi coined the term, “wuv.” It’s because he knows that we have the capacity to care for others and become connected with them through our similarities AND differences. That we’ll begin to really see one another as family, even if we’re miles and miles apart.
