Shockbolt, you know there's a "fair use" for artwork, right? You can't say "Do not use this image for any reason without my written permission," and expect everyone to obey. Anyone can use your art for journalistic and educational reasons as long as proper attribution (credit) is given and it is not somehow taking your potential revenue.

I love the expression on that guy's face. Nice work on the sword and axe and practically everything else as well.

No, there is no "fair use" as long as I clearly state in my posts that the images can't be used without my written permission.

Wrong. Learn how United States law works. (I recently took college classes on this stuff.)

Fair use allows us to use anything we want for journalistic purposes, within reason, but we can't use the stuff just to use it. For example, I can't post your image somewhere just to post it. I have to say something about the image or it is not fair use. Despite popular belief, I cannot diss your work unless I have good reason or am asked to or at least have permission from you or whatever company you belong to (DeviantArt in this case). Criticism is one thing, but I'm not allowed to just announce that something sucks. It's called libel and is about ruining reputations, so if you believe someone is ruining your reputation without cause and you are not a public figure, you are within your right to sue them.

I'd also suggest checking out this page, especially what's found below "In Summary", it's very good reading

You should read up on art submissions and licenses that come with every submission here on DeviantArt. Since DeviantArt is under US laws, you may freely share portions of the artwork/text and credit the artist, critizise the artwork/text and so on. But did you think that was what the warning under my images was trying to prevent?

Every art post made here is done so with the strictest license DA offers. Still there are less intelligent beings that think they can pick images off from here and anywhere else, and use them with their games or commercial/non-commercial art projects, even post them in their own galleries, use them as signature banners, avatars and the like. Would you still dare to claim those cases as "fair use"? I think your chance of winning a legal case would be pretty slim.

I just think the wording in your warning was a little misleading. You should try to make people more aware of their rights rather than assume they already know.

I agree with your point of view on the subject of perception of law, though, and I think a lot of people are simply put, idiots.

Yeah, but put this way, there is most likely no chance that people will do something wrong, when they approach me with their wish to use the image(s) in mention. They ask and I answer, in 99% of the cases, they get permission to use the artwork, even for free.

If I simply told them to look up the fair use legal text, you'd raise more questions than answers, it's unclear at best.

I guess you make a good point, because anyone who knows what fair use is does not need to be told.

Can't anyone READ this? C'mon! Please? I've traveled the length and breadth of the land, I need to know what this damn sword SAYS!
