Sixth picture of my old series "Animal planet", which was about representing the solar system as fantastic animals.
As the Earth, this one was mostly difficult because I couldn't find the right animals. The god Saturn doesn't have a resemblace to any animal.
The nearest was a goat because this is the ruler planet for capricorn...but since I had a ram for Mars...I had no other choice but have a random animal for Saturn.
I tried with a puma, an elephant and a bull...but I didn't like it. It had to be something big, but not too heavy, since this is a gas planet.
At the end I choosed a caribou. It doesn't make much sense, but so does the whole project.
And as Jupiter, I only included some of Saturn's moons, because the real Saturn has about 60-ish.
Reah is a lioness because the titaness is sometimes symbolized with lions.
Dione is a heron. There's no direct reason to be one, but since Dione is the mother of Aphrodite, and I have a swan for her...well, there's at least some connection.
Titan is a raptor because this moon is very similar to the primitive Earth.
Encedalus is an artic fox because it's made of ice.
Iapetus is a coati because...why not.
And Tethys is a sea otter because Tethys is the godess of the sea.

I like it very much because of multiple reasons, first would be, that I like astronomy in general (actually I'm an amateur astronomer so... yeah XD).
Next thing would be, that Saturn is my favorite planet from the solar system (watching its ring-system via a telescope is just unspeakable amazing *o*).
And last but not least, I like your idea making Enceladus to a polar fox and Reah a lioness, they look absolutely cute (ok I admit, I generaly like those 2 animals XD)
So, it's a really greatly done painting!

I was searching for a picture of Iapetus for a thing in school. Though, this....I had to let myself be distracted to I could just look at more of this beautiful art work.
I love it. <3 Plus, this piece of work is the perfect excuse to be distracted, I mean, just look at it. <3 I love it so much, words can't describe.....man, I keep repeating myself..but still....beautiful.~

im a capircorn, but this it still very beatiful even though a ram is a male sheep so doing a goat would not be much different

i'm a capricorn and i look around for other animal zodica. you got it right, in celtic zodica i'm a stag. so a stag can be the symbol of saturn

lol i'm a Capricorn and actually when i was really little my most favorite planets were Saturn as number 1 and Pluto as number 2 ^-^

in GREEK mythology, Saturn (Chronos/Chronus/Kronos) was actually a titan lord and ruled over all forms of time

That looks great! Considering that the Titan god Cronus (Saturn) did not have an animal to represent him, this is a great choice to use a stag.

I love this! Saturn is my favorite planet! I love the way you drew all the animals, especially the stag, fox, dinosaur, heron and lioness! oh, and the coati and otter! oh, wait, that's all of them lol xD

well, from what i know Jupiter and Saturn are brothers and that way both kinda Kinglike, so it`s a good choice, since a stag is somewhat Royal too
