Yeah, likely pretty much everybody who's writing a novel dreams of being published. For me, it is the thought of physically holding my printed book, seeing it in bookstores and libraries, and especially attending a book signing!
Publishing a novel is my lifelong dream, and with effort, I'm confident I can do it.

Before you can start sending in manuscripts, you'll have to hire an agent. Most publishers won't take unsolicited work anymore...
On a brighter note, if having a book printed is your objective, you can have one self published. Printers will run off about a hundred copies of your book and then you can distribute them or sell them, if you can. If it becomes popular enough, the big name publishers might even take notice.

I do realize that, sadly, I have to likely hire an agent, but happily, have found the occasional publisher who will accept my work if I simply mail it in. Mostly, I'd just like to see what they think about my finished manuscript!
As for ordering printed copies of my book myself, I've considered it, but don't really want to do it due to the fact that I think selling it would be difficult. I also think that I'd have a hard time finding and attracting an audience without the advertising a publisher brings.
