Name breakdown

Caesar || His mother first named him Caesar because it was believed to be a name of greatness and Copperstare's mother believed that he would make her proud.

Copper || When Copperstare was found and adopted, his name was changed from Caesar to Copperkit. Many think that this is because of the colour of his pelt or eyes but really it is because when the sun hits his pelt, it makes it shine the the metal copper. (Shut up, there's a difference XD)

Stare || Copperstare received the suffix 'stare' not only because of his intelligence and ability to concentrate but also because of the way his eyes seem to be what others pay most attention to out of his entire physique.

Scout - This was the name that Copperstare's Father always used to call him. He was given the nickname because of his constant bravery and because he was always the first kit to try anything out of the entire litter, as well as for his curious and adventurous personality.

Size|| Copperstare is rather large, even for his age. He towers over the average sized male warriors in his clan and still continues to grow. The copper warrior gets his height from the large cat breeds that run in his family.

Scent || Copperstare's scent is a mixture of sharp pine and mint. Sometimes there will be a small hint of dew depending on the season.

Body Type || Copperstare has a very large and muscular body. He has thick strong legs that pack a powerful blow and perfectly squared shoulders and a smooth lined back.

Coat Maintenance || Copperstare's fur is actually rather short so not a lot of maintenance is needed. However, it has a knack for getting ruffled in the morning so usually he has to give it a good grooming before starting his day.

Book Description || Large handsome copper coloured tom with darker copper, black and white markings as well as scars decorating his legs and bridge of left eye; dark ginger eyes.

Written Appearance || Copperstare is a young and strong warrior of Mountainclan. He towers over the average male height due to the large breeds that run in his family. He is built with a very large muscular body with perfectly squared shoulders and a strong, smooth lined back. He is equipped with thick, strong legs that can deliver a nasty blow in battle but are also perfect for leaping great distances, making up for his lack in speed. Copperstare's paws are also quite large in size and can deliver vicious wounds with the long claws that are usually kept sheathed. His claws give this tom the perfect grip and can dig deep into the ground, allowing him to run even when the ground is wet or icy. The pads of his paws are tough and strong due to the long days climbing through the rocky terrain that the mountains provide and are perfect for climbing far without becoming wounded. Copperstare's fur is in between medium and short except for along his neck where the fur seems to be thicker. Even though his fur can look spiky, the copper pelt is actually quite soft and is able to retain a good amount of heat, making even the harshest of winters a little easier. His ears a straight and slightly rounded at the top but unlike his mother's ears, they don't curl. Instead Copperstare seemed to inherit more of his father's physical features like his strong jaws, short tail and powerful figure whereas he inherited his mother's colour and fur. Copperstare has a short maw like a regular cats but unlike most, he has slightly longer teeth which will sometimes stick out when he smiles or even when his mouth is closed if he isn't careful. His fur is a rich copper colour that has a knack for gleaming in the sunlight. A darker copper stripe runs down his back, thickening along his sides before thinning out and ending just before the middle of his tail, the darker copper also wraps around his neck like a bib and ends just below his shoulders. White compliments the inside of Copperstare's ears and just under his eyes. A splash of the colour runs at the end of his tail just barely touching the darker copper but leaving a perfect gap between the two to show off a little of his main coat colour on the tail. Black lines the top of his eyes, meeting up with his brow as well as creating a blanket over his ears. His paws are black with speckles running up his legs but none of his paws are fully black, all have at least one copper toe visible.

Accessories ||
Cardinal Feathers || Copperstare wears cardinal feathers behind his right ear. The feathers are wore because the cardinal is not only his favourite bird but it was also the first prey he even caught, holding a great significance to him. He also finds the bird smart and fun to listen too and although he will sometimes wear hawk or owl feathers too, he prefers the cardinal because they compliment his bright pelt.

Disabilities /Scars ||
Shoulder scars || The scars on his left shoulder were made when Copperstare was first sent into battle. They are probably the proudest marking on his body because it is a memory of the first fight he ever won.

Leg scars (Front) || The scars on his right front leg were obtained when Copperstare practised too roughly with one of the other apprentices. When the move, which was supposed to be a swip and dodge, went wrong, both apprentices ended up walking away with some new wounds.

Leg scars (Back) || The scars on his left back leg were caused when Copperstare ventured out too far into the mountains as an apprentice. He ended up falling from the rock her was climbing and a small boulder fell on his leg, slicing it open in several different places and bruising the bones. The medicine cat said he was lucky not to have broken his leg. Later he got a few more scars in the same area from when the boulder fell on him while he was hunting. Copperstare was chasing a hare through a field at the bottom of the mountains and was caught in a fox trap. When he struggled he ended up cutting himself with the metal loop trap and new scars were obtained.

Scars on bridge of eye || The scars on the bridge of his eye were caused in Copperstare's second battle as a warrior. The deputy from the clan he was fighting decided to try and take one of the copper warriors eyes but missed when the tom evaded the attack, striking him just above the eye and allowing Copperstare to strike back.

Sun sensitivity || Copperstare can sometimes have issues with the sun. Over time his eyes grew sensitive to the intense light for some reason and it especially bugs him during the summer. The medicine cat however, says it should fade over time as long as he doesn’t injure it.

Leg issue || Ever since the bolder fell on his leg and bruised the bone he has sometimes had issues with it. Tho the bone has healed, his leg will sometimes cramp for no reason at all of he will have an intense pain shoot through it when he is laying down. Medicine cats can't seem to find an issue with the bone but believe that it the leg issues were caused by an error during the healing of the leg.

''Fear is a useless emotion. It cannot be deleted from life but i can be suppressed. You just have to swim a little deeper.'' [Fearless/Brave] - Copperstare truly believes that fear is a useless emotion and that it simply shouldn't be felt. He disallows himself to let his fears get the better of him and when he feels afraid he simply represses it and thinks positively about the situation he's in instead of thinking about all of the things that could go wrong. He is always the first one to do what others are too afraid to do and is always reluctant to back down from a dare. However, even Copperstare knows the line between bravery and stupidity and he is always careful no to cross it because he believes that it is always better to show cowardice than to do something that could later affect your entire life negatively. He is not afraid to try new things but at the same time is always ready to carefully analyze the situation before heading in blind. He allows himself to assess all of the ending possibilities before making a decision that could not only lead to the danger of his own life but of the lives of others. If Copperstare feels that something is too dangerous to do and could critically endanger someone, he is not afraid to say so, even if he is ridiculed in the process.

''We battle to show our strength, to set an example and to prove that the greatest warriors let the enemy live to fight another battle.'' [Honourable/Fair-minded] - Copperstare has always been a cat of honour and fair-mindedness. He does not see his enemies for their weaknesses but rather for their strengths and treats every cat, from the tiniest kit to the strongest warrior, the same. In battle, he does not fight for the glory of beating down his enemies and making them beg for mercy, but instead to set an example that his clan is not to be messed with and to show the strength that his clan holds as a whole. In battle, he gives his enemies every chance to flee and is always sure that the cats he battles have an equal chance of winning and therefore he doesn't battle apprentices and smaller than average sized cats because he feels like he's cheated them of something. Because Copperstare leads a life of honour, he is very easily trusted by his clanmates and will never tell someone something he was sworn not to unless it directly affects the safety of his clanmates.

''No. I'm only standing out here freezing my ass off because I like it. Of course I'm waiting for you, you idiot!'' [Sarcastic] - Copperstare has always had a faulty screw when it comes to sarcasm. Sometimes, he doesn't even mean to be sarcastic, the words just simply slip out. He has trouble coping with this setback in his emotions because sometimes it can even lead to a short tempered personality which is something Copperstare has never really been fond of in himself. Even when grumpy, the copper warrior still usually finds a way to be kind even when other cats find him to be an ass. He tries his best to suppress the sarcasm when it tries to burst out but when he falters he will usually feel quite bad about it. Not about hurting the cats feelings but because he let himself succumb to his bad traits...even though most of them can be pretty bad.

''Ya...that move you just did...I've seen elders do it better than you.'' [Blunt] - Copperstare has always been one to tell you the straight up truth. He isn't afraid of how it will make you feel but instead, he thinks that by him telling you exactly what he thinks you did wrong, that you'll be about to improve. In other words, he never sugarcoats things but instead says what his thoughts are straight up. To some cats, this trait is actually very good. Like some, Copperstare finds it actually very helpful because instead of saying, ''Ya you did okay let's try something else.'' and leaving you not being able to the move to the top level that you could, he tells you exactly what you did wrong and how to improve, making you better at it than you would have been. To others, many do find this kind of trait rude and unnecessary. Many believe that when Copperstare tries helping them in his own way that he's just judging them and sometimes they will ignore his advice. The apprentices he's helped in the past have had mixed feelings bout his bluntness but most of them were happy that they were able to improve and were proud when Copperstare actually praised them for doing something right, which is something he doesn't do often.

''Ugh...you keep doing it wrong. Do it again.'' [Stubborn/Finicky] - Copperstare can be incredibly hard to please. If you put one whisker out of place when he trying to teach you something then he will make you do it again and again and again until you get it right. Some can mix this with him being strict but there is a difference between the two. Copperstare doesn't just make you stand tall for the sake of looking good, he makes you do stand straight because you weren't straight enough before. He can be incredibly stubborn and finicky when it comes to his own life too. When he doesn't want to do something, he makes sure everyone knows it and he won't budge until you allow him to do what he wants. Usually, he can torture himself instead of the apprentices all the time because even when Copperstare does a move wrong or messes up on a hunting trip, he won't let himself stop until he's corrected himself. He can be incredibly picky and stubborn but in the end, you'll probably thank him for it when you're in your next battle or on a hunting trip.

''I ill protect my clan even at the cost of my life. That is our code and it is what we have vowed to do as warriors no matter how hard it may be.'' [Loyal/Committed] - Copperstare has always had a huge thing with the warrior code. Sometimes, behind his back, cats will even snicker about how they think he should just marry the damn thing. Breaking a rule on the warrior code is like trying to give Copperstare the death blow, it's a bad idea and will probably get you skinned in the process. He has always been an incredibly loyal warrior and he believes that every cat should be punished accordingly for breaking it. He can be incredibly committed to following the rules and carrying out the duties of his clan and will even sometimes be seen helping the apprentices and the other warriors with their duties. However, Copperstare knows when he is being used and he will find his own colourful way to make you pay for it. That's the beauty of being committed.

''I don't tell my secrets, that's why they're called secrets.'' [Secretive] - Copperstare can sometimes have a very hard time opening up to others. He rarely talks about his personal feelings and thoughts and his past is almost unheard of among his clanmates. The only cats he'll actually talk to about these kinds of things are the one he cares about the most and even they have trouble getting things that are as simple as his mother's name, out of him. Very few know about what he was like as a kit, what his favourite things are or even who his mentor was as an apprentice because he rarely talks about himself. When Copperstare is asked what his life was like, he will often get a very distant look on his face followed by a look of sadness until he finally states that the past was the past and that it shouldn't be concerned anymore. He will easily listen to other cats issues and secrets but when it comes to his own they are locked away, waiting to be forgotten.

''Have any cobwebs? I scraped my paw falling for you~'' [Flirtatious/Hopeless Romantic] - Copperstare can be incredibly cheesy when it comes to pickup lines but they all hold the same purpose, to get a she-cats attention. Though he isn't always seen flirting, when he is in a very happy mood it is almost unavoidable that he will say something to try and get attention. However, flirty behaviour aside, Copperstare also has a very tender spot in his heart of steel. Ever since he was an apprentice, he dreamed of finding that perfect she-cat and starting a family with her. Though he may not seem like it at first, Copperstare has always wanted to be a father, partially to show them the wonders of the world but to also have something that he can smother with love besides a mate. Even though he may not get many she-cats with his epic one liners, he still believes that when the time comes, he'll just know who the right one is. He believes that as long as he keeps searching for the right one that he'll eventually find her and he doesn't care how long that takes. What he does know, is that he would make that she-cat feel like she was the most important cat in the world and to Copperstare, she would be.

''I have time to waste, I can stay here and watch you fail all day if I have to. We're not leaving till you do it right.'' [Patient] - Copperstare has only just recently found his patience. As a kit and apprentice he was always impatient and ready to go and was easily pissed off when people didn't make deadlines. Today however, ever since his warrior ceremony, Copperstare has started to become incredibly patient. Patient to the point where he could wither a plant with his stare if he wanted to. If Copperstare has to wait then he will wait. The reason he has become so successful since becoming a warrior is because he is able to wait for things to happen and he is able to wait until he does what he wants to do right. However, even with his new found patience, even Copperstare has his limits when it comes to waiting and if you make him wait longer than he was willing to let you, then you can be sure he'll get you back for slacking off.

''I do care you know...even if I don't always show it.'' [Secretly caring/Protective] - Caring hasn't always been at the top of Copperstare's list. Sometimes as an apprentice he could be overly cruel but now as an adult, he does care about everyone. He cares when others are in pain and feels even worse if he is the one who caused it but because he hates showing weakness, he doesn't always show the emotions that matter even if they bubble up deep within him. Behind his tough skin and usually stiff attitude, Copperstare actually secretly cares, even when you think he doesn't. When it seems like he's being mean he hopes that his clanmates can look past that and simply see that if he didn't care he wouldn't push as hard as he does. Copperstare can be incredibly protective of the things he loves and he loves his clan. He wants them to be able to take care of themselves even if he indirectly takes care of them so that they don't know it. He doesn't know why he doesn't want cats to know that he secretly cares about everyone but sometimes he chooses that it's because he doesn't want them to expect him to be there all the time.

''Did you know that a cardinal is one of the few species that doesn't migrate to the south? Isn't that cool?! I mean...um...ya...'' [Intelligent/Observant] - Copperstare has a very fun time absorbing information into his brain. He is one of the few cats in his clan with a photographic memory and has no difficulty absorbing the things he sees. He also has a knack for memorizing things other say and is actually quite a clever tom. One of the reason he can be incredibly good at fighting is because it is easily for him to remember the moves after seeing them only once, it is also the reason he can spot flaws so easily. Copperstare enjoys learning new things even as a warrior and is always eager to find knew things to learn and observe. He can easily see things in life that others would miss or overlook and find the world oddly wondrous and relaxing. The only draw-back from this gift is that usually Copperstare is embarrassed by it and will usually try to suppress it and hide it instead of sharing the things he knows with others. The only time he ever really shows it is when helping someone train their apprentice, allowing his intelligence to go to waste.

''I know my place and my responsibility and I will always be ready to live up to it.'' [Natural Leader/Responsible] - Copperstare has always had a natural way with leadership. He finds it quite easy to get through to other cats because he tries to understand them first. He usually knows what kind of tone he has to use and isn't afraid to put others in their place. Usually, he only has to use the threat of his size to get someone in line without actually using threats but if needed, he knows what to say in a situation such as a cocky over-confident apprentice. When he was a kit, his brother and him used to play and since he was bigger he used to just fight them and when they lost and he humiliated them they were actually quite easy to control. However, today, Copperstare doesn't wish to control anybody but instead make sure that cats know what their duties are and do them. However, in a time of crisis, Copperstare isn't afraid to take control to make sure that everyone gets out alright. He knows his responsibilities as a warrior but is always ready to take a step forward if needed.

{ Hobbies }
Copperstare enjoys collecting and wearing bird feathers. If you want to make him happy, you could give him a feather from a bird he loves. Copperstare also enjoys crafting things for others and for himself.
:bullethwite: Copperstare is huge on early mornings. He enjoys waking up and training himself so that he can become better at things like stamina and strength. Apprentices beware

{ Bad Habits }
When Copperstare gets incredibly depressed or stressed, he has an issue of gnawing at his paws until they bleed in his sleep. He doesn't realize he's done it until he wakes up in the morning. Sometimes however, he will do it purposely just to take the mental pain and turn it into physical pain.
When Copperstare becomes impatient, he has a habit of tearing apart the ground with his claws. Sometimes he'll even stand in one spot while waiting and angrily tap his left front paw.
Copperstare can sometimes have trouble controlling his anger. Usually, he won't even be mad at a cat but instead mad at himself or something about his past. Either way, he will take out his anger on the nearest living thing.

{ Backstory }
Prologue: Copperstare
''I used to dream of the day I finally grew up. I used to dream about my life and the warming love my family brought to it. I used to rejoice in the happiness that everyday things used to bring to me and I used to cherish every memory, no matter how small. Some memories however, I wish I could forget. There are some I wish I could simply wipe clear of my mind so that I wouldn't have to relive them every single time I close my eyes or every single time I see something that causes those memories to surface once more, even after I have believed that they have vanished from my mind so that I can finally live in peace. Those memories however, the ones you long to forget are the ones that stay with you forever, continually haunting you and it is the ones you wish you could remember that are eventually forgotten. They say that overtime, the past will eventually fade away. Everything that happened to you will soon be forgotten as you move on, finding new memories to push the old ones out. They say that with time, all scars can be healed...this statement is a lie. It is simply said to create a false sense of hope, a false sense of security that eventually, your life will be perfect. I wish that this was true. I want to have a perfect life. A life that is as easy as being raised in a loving family, making them proud, finding a she-cat, making a family of my own and having my children and their children repeat that cycle. Over time however, I have begun to realize that the scars caused in the past don't heal and even though some fade away, they never fully disappear...that no matter what you do, they'll always haunt you...until everything within you that is good, seems to flicker...and die...''

Why- Copperstare's favourite Season is Spring because it is the sign of new life and a new beginning. The Season Spring always reminds him of the time he started a new life with his adopted family.

Why- Copperstare's favourite colour is Turquoise because it reminds him of a time of happiness in his life where he spent a few precious moments with Lizardshadow chasing after a butterfly. It was the first time the tom truly saw his adopted Father smile and laugh with his adopted son.

Why- Copperstare likes Rabbit as his food the most because he finds they taste better than any other food and he also enjoys trying to catch them. He believes the harder the meal is to catch, the more it is appreciated.

Why- The first prey Copperstare ever caught was a Canary. He enjoys these birds not only because of his victory but also because he finds that they are unique and special, just like his parents were to him. Copperstare wears Canary feathers behind his ear and every year, on the day he was abandoned, he drops the feathers from a cliff and watches them sail away on the wind.
Tree || Pine Tree
Why- Copperstare mainly likes this tree the most because of the way it smells. The cabin he lived in as a kit smelled like the pine trees and the distinct scent the tree gives off reminds him of that.
Flower || Blue Stargazer Lilies
Why- Copperstare likes the Stargazer Lilies the most because his best friend, Owlpaw/flight, also loved the flowers. Overtimes, they reminded him of her and he has always cherished their beauty since.
Bug || Crowned Hairstreak Butterfly
Why- Copperstare's favourite bug is the Hairstreaked Butterfly not only because he enjoys the colours but also because they hold incredible beauty and aren't that easy to find, especially in the mountains. He enjoys seeing them whenever he finds one and will often try to catch them.

Why- Copperstare enjoys bathing in the sun whenever he can on his spare time, especially when the sun is at its peak.
Scent || Roses
Why- Copperstare distincly remembers that when he spent time with his mother in what he now calls the "Golden Lands", that she smelled exactly of roses mixed in with sunlight. He enjoys the scent of roses because he is able to think back to the time he saw his mother.
Sound || Water crashing against rocks
Why- Copperstare has always thought the the sound of water moving against rocks was always amazing. He enjoys sitting by rivers and just listening to the noise because it allows him to clear his mind and relax.
Surrounding/Scenery The Forest
Why- Copperstare enjoys lounging about the thickest parts of the forest because it reminds him of the place where he once lived as a kit. He often thinks that if he goes deep enough that one day he'll find the cabin where he once lived and find his family waiting for him.

[ Lostpaw | Apprentice | Shadowclan ]
He could hear them...those vicious creatures getting closer and closer. He could feel his Mother's body growing weaker, tired from running with the kit in her mouth. He could feel the rain soaking his pelt, feel the blood that trickled down from his neck. He could hear the snarls and barks as the creatures got closer still, feel the panic in his Mother as she tried to run, tried to get away. He could feel the pain she felt, almost knowing that this was the end, this was where they would die and his tiny maw opened wide as he was torn from his mother's grasp as one of the creatures bit into her scruff and suddenly the kit was on the ground, the mud soaking into his cream fur. He looked up to see one looming over her, it's jaws wide and it's eyes bright as it seemed to smile, the white foam dripping from it's mouth. His eyes widened as it bit her again, tearing into her leg as if it were a toy. He heard it squeal as the blood flowed from it's cheek and suddenly he was picked up again, his mother rushing over the log that was slippery from the rushing river. He remembered catching a glimpse of one of the foxes slipping in, a loud scream piercing the night as it was dragged under. The kit's eyes were wide with fear as his Mother collapsed in the grass, pushing herself up again and running off, knowing that she could not do this much longer. The shadows swirled around them, hissing and growling as they reached for the kit and his mother. The she-cat knew she could go no further and she quickly found a spot beneath some bracken, a hole that looked to be an old rabbit den. The she-cat gently placed her kit into the hole, her eyes gazing into his with sadness, knowing that this was her end. He felt her tongue rush over his head before she turned away. The kit blinked and took a step forward, a mew echoing from his chest as his mother turned and nudged him back into the hole, tears running down her face as she shook her head, quietly telling him that he had to stay. The kit mewed again but sat down, ducking as the foxes ran past him. Everything seemed to go silent as the kit waited. He seemed to wait for such a long time until here was a snap of thunder and a loud roaring sound, drowning out what he could have sworn was a scream...a sound that would forever haunt him. He waited until it was silent again before quietly padding out of the small hiding place, his tiny legs barely allowing him to move through the mud. He could smell something salty in the distance and followed the scent, seeing a body...a cat's body. There was another flicker of lightning and the kit noticed his mother. His eyes grew wide with happiness as he ran to her, burying his nose into her soft fur, wanting her to hold him and whisper that he was her little prince, her little angel but his mother didn't move and never again would she tell him how much she loved him...no, his mother was no longer there. The kit gave a tiny mew as he walked to the front of her, seeing her closed eyes and the sadness in her face. The tiny tom gave another small mew before he nudged her gently, trying to get her to wake up so that they could go home. His own eyes filled with tears as he opened his maw again. ''Mom?'' he whispered, nudging her again. ''You've gotta get up...we have to go home...'' he repeated, his eyes closing as the tears ran down his cheeks and onto his mother's fur. ''Please Mom...wake up...'' he whispered before laying beside his Mother and closing his eyes, hoping that when he opened them that this would all be a dream but when he did, the rain was still coming down and his Mother remained silent...silent like the dead.
With a gasp, the eyes of the cream tom flew open, his sides heaving as his breathing exploded from his mouth. It took him a moment to realize that he was okay, he was safe. Lostpaw looked around for a moment as he tried to calm his breathing. He was in the apprentice den and all around him the sleeping bodies of his Clanmates lay around him, they eyes shut and they breathing slow. Lostpaw drew in a final breath before he stood, walking out of the den and into the cool night. Slowly, he padded up onto a hill and sat down, his gaze focusing on the stars as he watched them from where he sat. The wind blew gently through his fur, rustling it, as if wanting him to run and dance freely through the fields with it but Lostpaw remained sitting, remained still and silent as he watched the stars, his emerald gaze reflecting the night sky. The creamy coloured tom flicked his tail as he listened to the crickets in the distance. Their beautiful noise made him feel calm and he let out a sigh as his heart finally stopped beating so quickly.
''I don't understand...why can't you just leave me in peace?'' he asked quietly as he stared at the stars, wondering why he continued having the tortuous dreams. ''Why can't you just leave me alone?'' he whispered before looking down at his paws, the stars remaining silent as they twinkled brightly from above. Lostpaw sighed again as he looked back up at the sky, his tail flicking by his side. ''Silent as ever...'' he mewed quietly before standing and padding back into the apprentice den, praying that his dreams would remain just as silent as the stars.

Name breakdown

Caesar || His mother first named him Caesar because it was believed to be a name of greatness and Copperstare's mother believed that he would make her proud.

Copper || When Copperstare was found and adopted, his name was changed from Caesar to Copperkit. Many think that this is because of the colour of his pelt or eyes but really it is because when the sun hits his pelt, it makes it shine the the metal copper. (Shut up, there's a difference XD)

Stare || Copperstare received the suffix 'stare' not only because of his intelligence and ability to concentrate but also because of the way his eyes seem to be what others pay most attention to out of his entire physique.

Size|| Copperstare is rather large, even for his age. He towers over the average sized male warriors in his clan and still continues to grow. The copper warrior gets his height from the large cat breeds that run in his family.

Scent || Copperstare's scent is a mixture of sharp pine and mint. Sometimes there will be a small hint of dew depending on the season.

Body Type || Copperstare has a very large and muscular body. He has thick strong legs that pack a powerful blow and perfectly squared shoulders and a smooth lined back.

Coat Maintenance || Copperstare's fur is actually rather short so not a lot of maintenance is needed. However, it has a knack for getting ruffled in the morning so usually he has to give it a good grooming before starting his day.

Book Description || Large handsome copper coloured tom with darker copper, black and white markings as well as scars decorating his legs and bridge of left eye; dark ginger eyes.

Written Appearance || Copperstare is a young and strong warrior of Mountainclan. He towers over the average male height due to the large breeds that run in his family. He is built with a very large muscular body with perfectly squared shoulders and a strong, smooth lined back. He is equipped with thick, strong legs that can deliver a nasty blow in battle but are also perfect for leaping great distances, making up for his lack in speed. Copperstare's paws are also quite large in size and can deliver vicious wounds with the long claws that are usually kept sheathed. His claws give this tom the perfect grip and can dig deep into the ground, allowing him to run even when the ground is wet or icy. The pads of his paws are tough and strong due to the long days climbing through the rocky terrain that the mountains provide and are perfect for climbing far without becoming wounded. Copperstare's fur is in between medium and short except for along his neck where the fur seems to be thicker. Even though his fur can look spiky, the copper pelt is actually quite soft and is able to retain a good amount of heat, making even the harshest of winters a little easier. His ears a straight and slightly rounded at the top but unlike his mother's ears, they don't curl. Instead Copperstare seemed to inherit more of his father's physical features like his strong jaws, short tail and powerful figure whereas he inherited his mother's colour and fur. Copperstare has a short maw like a regular cats but unlike most, he has slightly longer teeth which will sometimes stick out when he smiles or even when his mouth is closed if he isn't careful. His fur is a rich copper colour that has a knack for gleaming in the sunlight. A darker copper stripe runs down his back, thickening along his sides before thinning out and ending just before the middle of his tail, the darker copper also wraps around his neck like a bib and ends just below his shoulders. White compliments the inside of Copperstare's ears and just under his eyes. A splash of the colour runs at the end of his tail just barely touching the darker copper but leaving a perfect gap between the two to show off a little of his main coat colour on the tail. Black lines the top of his eyes, meeting up with his brow as well as creating a blanket over his ears. His paws are black with speckles running up his legs but none of his paws are fully black, all have at least one copper toe visible.

Cardinal Feathers || Copperstare wears cardinal feathers behind his right ear. The feathers are wore because the cardinal is not only his favourite bird but it was also the first prey he even caught, holding a great significance to him. He also finds the bird smart and fun to listen too and although he will sometimes wear hawk or owl feathers too, he prefers the cardinal because they compliment his bright pelt.

Disabilities /Scars ||
Shoulder scars || The scars on his left shoulder were made when Copperstare was first sent into battle. They are probably the proudest marking on his body because it is a memory of the first fight he ever won.

Leg scars (Front) || The scars on his right front leg were obtained when Copperstare practised too roughly with one of the other apprentices. When the move, which was supposed to be a swip and dodge, went wrong, both apprentices ended up walking away with some new wounds.

Leg scars (Back) || The scars on his left back leg were caused when Copperstare ventured out too far into the mountains as an apprentice. He ended up falling from the rock her was climbing and a small boulder fell on his leg, slicing it open in several different places and bruising the bones. The medicine cat said he was lucky not to have broken his leg. Later he got a few more scars in the same area from when the boulder fell on him while he was hunting. Copperstare was chasing a hare through a field at the bottom of the mountains and was caught in a fox trap. When he struggled he ended up cutting himself with the metal loop trap and new scars were obtained.

Scars on bridge of eye || The scars on the bridge of his eye were caused in Copperstare's second battle as a warrior. The deputy from the clan he was fighting decided to try and take one of the copper warriors eyes but missed when the tom evaded the attack, striking him just above the eye and allowing Copperstare to strike back.

Sun sensitivity || Copperstare can sometimes have issues with the sun. Over time his eyes grew sensitive to the intense light for some reason and it especially bugs him during the summer. The medicine cat however, says it should fade over time as long as he doesn’t injure it.

Leg issue || Ever since the bolder fell on his leg and bruised the bone he has sometimes had issues with it. Tho the bone has healed, his leg will sometimes cramp for no reason at all of he will have an intense pain shoot through it when he is laying down. Medicine cats can't seem to find an issue with the bone but believe that it the leg issues were caused by an error during the healing of the leg.

''Fear is a useless emotion. It cannot be deleted from life but i can be suppressed. You just have to swim a little deeper.'' [Fearless/Brave] - Copperstare truly believes that fear is a useless emotion and that it simply shouldn't be felt. He disallows himself to let his fears get the better of him and when he feels afraid he simply represses it and thinks positively about the situation he's in instead of thinking about all of the things that could go wrong. He is always the first one to do what others are too afraid to do and is always reluctant to back down from a dare. However, even Copperstare knows the line between bravery and stupidity and he is always careful no to cross it because he believes that it is always better to show cowardice than to do something that could later affect your entire life negatively. He is not afraid to try new things but at the same time is always ready to carefully analyze the situation before heading in blind. He allows himself to assess all of the ending possibilities before making a decision that could not only lead to the danger of his own life but of the lives of others. If Copperstare feels that something is too dangerous to do and could critically endanger someone, he is not afraid to say so, even if he is ridiculed in the process.

''We battle to show our strength, to set an example and to prove that the greatest warriors let the enemy live to fight another battle.'' [Honourable/Fair-minded] - Copperstare has always been a cat of honour and fair-mindedness. He does not see his enemies for their weaknesses but rather for their strengths and treats every cat, from the tiniest kit to the strongest warrior, the same. In battle, he does not fight for the glory of beating down his enemies and making them beg for mercy, but instead to set an example that his clan is not to be messed with and to show the strength that his clan holds as a whole. In battle, he gives his enemies every chance to flee and is always sure that the cats he battles have an equal chance of winning and therefore he doesn't battle apprentices and smaller than average sized cats because he feels like he's cheated them of something. Because Copperstare leads a life of honour, he is very easily trusted by his clanmates and will never tell someone something he was sworn not to unless it directly affects the safety of his clanmates.

''No. I'm only standing out here freezing my ass off because I like it. Of course I'm waiting for you, you idiot!'' [Sarcastic] - Copperstare has always had a faulty screw when it comes to sarcasm. Sometimes, he doesn't even mean to be sarcastic, the words just simply slip out. He has trouble coping with this setback in his emotions because sometimes it can even lead to a short tempered personality which is something Copperstare has never really been fond of in himself. Even when grumpy, the copper warrior still usually finds a way to be kind even when other cats find him to be an ass. He tries his best to suppress the sarcasm when it tries to burst out but when he falters he will usually feel quite bad about it. Not about hurting the cats feelings but because he let himself succumb to his bad traits...even though most of them can be pretty bad.

''Ya...that move you just did...I've seen elders do it better than you.'' [Blunt] - Copperstare has always been one to tell you the straight up truth. He isn't afraid of how it will make you feel but instead, he thinks that by him telling you exactly what he thinks you did wrong, that you'll be about to improve. In other words, he never sugarcoats things but instead says what his thoughts are straight up. To some cats, this trait is actually very good. Like some, Copperstare finds it actually very helpful because instead of saying, ''Ya you did okay let's try something else.'' and leaving you not being able to the move to the top level that you could, he tells you exactly what you did wrong and how to improve, making you better at it than you would have been. To others, many do find this kind of trait rude and unnecessary. Many believe that when Copperstare tries helping them in his own way that he's just judging them and sometimes they will ignore his advice. The apprentices he's helped in the past have had mixed feelings bout his bluntness but most of them were happy that they were able to improve and were proud when Copperstare actually praised them for doing something right, which is something he doesn't do often.

''Ugh...you keep doing it wrong. Do it again.'' [Stubborn/Finicky] - Copperstare can be incredibly hard to please. If you put one whisker out of place when he trying to teach you something then he will make you do it again and again and again until you get it right. Some can mix this with him being strict but there is a difference between the two. Copperstare doesn't just make you stand tall for the sake of looking good, he makes you do stand straight because you weren't straight enough before. He can be incredibly stubborn and finicky when it comes to his own life too. When he doesn't want to do something, he makes sure everyone knows it and he won't budge until you allow him to do what he wants. Usually, he can torture himself instead of the apprentices all the time because even when Copperstare does a move wrong or messes up on a hunting trip, he won't let himself stop until he's corrected himself. He can be incredibly picky and stubborn but in the end, you'll probably thank him for it when you're in your next battle or on a hunting trip.

''I ill protect my clan even at the cost of my life. That is our code and it is what we have vowed to do as warriors no matter how hard it may be.'' [Loyal/Committed] - Copperstare has always had a huge thing with the warrior code. Sometimes, behind his back, cats will even snicker about how they think he should just marry the damn thing. Breaking a rule on the warrior code is like trying to give Copperstare the death blow, it's a bad idea and will probably get you skinned in the process. He has always been an incredibly loyal warrior and he believes that every cat should be punished accordingly for breaking it. He can be incredibly committed to following the rules and carrying out the duties of his clan and will even sometimes be seen helping the apprentices and the other warriors with their duties. However, Copperstare knows when he is being used and he will find his own colourful way to make you pay for it. That's the beauty of being committed.

''I don't tell my secrets, that's why they're called secrets.'' [Secretive] - Copperstare can sometimes have a very hard time opening up to others. He rarely talks about his personal feelings and thoughts and his past is almost unheard of among his clanmates. The only cats he'll actually talk to about these kinds of things are the one he cares about the most and even they have trouble getting things that are as simple as his mother's name, out of him. Very few know about what he was like as a kit, what his favourite things are or even who his mentor was as an apprentice because he rarely talks about himself. When Copperstare is asked what his life was like, he will often get a very distant look on his face followed by a look of sadness until he finally states that the past was the past and that it shouldn't be concerned anymore. He will easily listen to other cats issues and secrets but when it comes to his own they are locked away, waiting to be forgotten.

''Have any cobwebs? I scraped my paw falling for you~'' [Flirtatious/Hopeless Romantic] - Copperstare can be incredibly cheesy when it comes to pickup lines but they all hold the same purpose, to get a she-cats attention. Though he isn't always seen flirting, when he is in a very happy mood it is almost unavoidable that he will say something to try and get attention. However, flirty behaviour aside, Copperstare also has a very tender spot in his heart of steel. Ever since he was an apprentice, he dreamed of finding that perfect she-cat and starting a family with her. Though he may not seem like it at first, Copperstare has always wanted to be a father, partially to show them the wonders of the world but to also have something that he can smother with love besides a mate. Even though he may not get many she-cats with his epic one liners, he still believes that when the time comes, he'll just know who the right one is. He believes that as long as he keeps searching for the right one that he'll eventually find her and he doesn't care how long that takes. What he does know, is that he would make that she-cat feel like she was the most important cat in the world and to Copperstare, she would be.

''I have time to waste, I can stay here and watch you fail all day if I have to. We're not leaving till you do it right.'' [Patient] - Copperstare has only just recently found his patience. As a kit and apprentice he was always impatient and ready to go and was easily pissed off when people didn't make deadlines. Today however, ever since his warrior ceremony, Copperstare has started to become incredibly patient. Patient to the point where he could wither a plant with his stare if he wanted to. If Copperstare has to wait then he will wait. The reason he has become so successful since becoming a warrior is because he is able to wait for things to happen and he is able to wait until he does what he wants to do right. However, even with his new found patience, even Copperstare has his limits when it comes to waiting and if you make him wait longer than he was willing to let you, then you can be sure he'll get you back for slacking off.

''I do care you know...even if I don't always show it.'' [Secretly caring/Protective] - Caring hasn't always been at the top of Copperstare's list. Sometimes as an apprentice he could be overly cruel but now as an adult, he does care about everyone. He cares when others are in pain and feels even worse if he is the one who caused it but because he hates showing weakness, he doesn't always show the emotions that matter even if they bubble up deep within him. Behind his tough skin and usually stiff attitude, Copperstare actually secretly cares, even when you think he doesn't. When it seems like he's being mean he hopes that his clanmates can look past that and simply see that if he didn't care he wouldn't push as hard as he does. Copperstare can be incredibly protective of the things he loves and he loves his clan. He wants them to be able to take care of themselves even if he indirectly takes care of them so that they don't know it. He doesn't know why he doesn't want cats to know that he secretly cares about everyone but sometimes he chooses that it's because he doesn't want them to expect him to be there all the time.

''Did you know that a cardinal is one of the few species that doesn't migrate to the south? Isn't that cool?! I mean...um...ya...'' [Intelligent/Observant] - Copperstare has a very fun time absorbing information into his brain. He is one of the few cats in his clan with a photographic memory and has no difficulty absorbing the things he sees. He also has a knack for memorizing things other say and is actually quite a clever tom. One of the reason he can be incredibly good at fighting is because it is easily for him to remember the moves after seeing them only once, it is also the reason he can spot flaws so easily. Copperstare enjoys learning new things even as a warrior and is always eager to find knew things to learn and observe. He can easily see things in life that others would miss or overlook and find the world oddly wondrous and relaxing. The only draw-back from this gift is that usually Copperstare is embarrassed by it and will usually try to suppress it and hide it instead of sharing the things he knows with others. The only time he ever really shows it is when helping someone train their apprentice, allowing his intelligence to go to waste.

''I know my place and my responsibility and I will always be ready to live up to it.'' [Natural Leader/Responsible] - Copperstare has always had a natural way with leadership. He finds it quite easy to get through to other cats because he tries to understand them first. He usually knows what kind of tone he has to use and isn't afraid to put others in their place. Usually, he only has to use the threat of his size to get someone in line without actually using threats but if needed, he knows what to say in a situation such as a cocky over-confident apprentice. When he was a kit, his brother and him used to play and since he was bigger he used to just fight them and when they lost and he humiliated them they were actually quite easy to control. However, today, Copperstare doesn't wish to control anybody but instead make sure that cats know what their duties are and do them. However, in a time of crisis, Copperstare isn't afraid to take control to make sure that everyone gets out alright. He knows his responsibilities as a warrior but is always ready to take a step forward if needed.

{ Hobbies }
Copperstare enjoys collecting and wearing bird feathers. If you want to make him happy, you could give him a feather from a bird he loves. Copperstare also enjoys crafting things for others and for himself.
:bullethwite: Copperstare is huge on early mornings. He enjoys waking up and training himself so that he can become better at things like stamina and strength. Apprentices beware

{ Bad Habits }
When Copperstare gets incredibly depressed or stressed, he has an issue of gnawing at his paws until they bleed in his sleep. He doesn't realize he's done it until he wakes up in the morning. Sometimes however, he will do it purposely just to take the mental pain and turn it into physical pain.
When Copperstare becomes impatient, he has a habit of tearing apart the ground with his claws. Sometimes he'll even stand in one spot while waiting and angrily tap his left front paw.
Copperstare can sometimes have trouble controlling his anger. Usually, he won't even be mad at a cat but instead mad at himself or something about his past. Either way, he will take out his anger on the nearest living thing.

Prologue: Copperstare
''I used to dream of the day I finally grew up. I used to dream about my life and the warming love my family brought to it. I used to rejoice in the happiness that everyday things used to bring to me and I used to cherish every memory, no matter how small. Some memories however, I wish I could forget. There are some I wish I could simply wipe clear of my mind so that I wouldn't have to relive them every single time I close my eyes or every single time I see something that causes those memories to surface once more, even after I have believed that they have vanished from my mind so that I can finally live in peace. Those memories however, the ones you long to forget are the ones that stay with you forever, continually haunting you and it is the ones you wish you could remember that are eventually forgotten. They say that overtime, the past will eventually fade away. Everything that happened to you will soon be forgotten as you move on, finding new memories to push the old ones out. They say that with time, all scars can be healed...this statement is a lie. It is simply said to create a false sense of hope, a false sense of security that eventually, your life will be perfect. I wish that this was true. I want to have a perfect life. A life that is as easy as being raised in a loving family, making them proud, finding a she-cat, making a family of my own and having my children and their children repeat that cycle. Over time however, I have begun to realize that the scars caused in the past don't heal and even though some fade away, they never fully disappear...that no matter what you do, they'll always haunt you...until everything within you that is good, seems to flicker...and die...''

Season || Spring
Why- Copperstare's favourite Season is Spring because it is the sign of new life and a new beginning. The Season Spring always reminds him of the time he started a new life with his adopted family.
Colour || Turquoise
Why- Copperstare's favourite colour is Turquoise because it reminds him of a time of happiness in his life where he spent a few precious moments with Lizardshadow chasing after a butterfly. It was the first time the tom truly saw his adopted Father smile and laugh with his adopted son.
Prey || Rabbit
Why- Copperstare likes Rabbit as his food the most because he finds they taste better than any other food and he also enjoys trying to catch them. He believes the harder the meal is to catch, the more it is appreciated.
Animal || Canary
Why- The first prey Copperstare ever caught was a Canary. He enjoys these birds not only because of his victory but also because he finds that they are unique and special, just like his parents were to him. Copperstare wears Canary feathers behind his ear and every year, on the day he was abandoned, he drops the feathers from a cliff and watches them sail away on the wind.
Tree || Pine Tree
Why- Copperstare mainly likes this tree the most because of the way it smells. The cabin he lived in as a kit smelled like the pine trees and the distinct scent the tree gives off reminds him of that.
Flower || Blue Stargazer Lilies
Why- Copperstare likes the Stargazer Lilies the most because his best friend, Owlpaw/flight, also loved the flowers. Overtimes, they reminded him of her and he has always cherished their beauty since.
Bug || Crowned Hairstreak Butterfly
Why- Copperstare's favourite bug is the Hairstreaked Butterfly not only because he enjoys the colours but also because they hold incredible beauty and aren't that easy to find, especially in the mountains. He enjoys seeing them whenever he finds one and will often try to catch them.
Time || Afternoon
Why- Copperstare enjoys bathing in the sun whenever he can on his spare time, especially when the sun is at its peak.
Scent || Roses
Why- Copperstare distincly remembers that when he spent time with his mother in what he now calls the "Golden Lands", that she smelled exactly of roses mixed in with sunlight. He enjoys the scent of roses because he is able to think back to the time he saw his mother.
Sound || Water crashing against rocks
Why- Copperstare has always thought the the sound of water moving against rocks was always amazing. He enjoys sitting by rivers and just listening to the noise because it allows him to clear his mind and relax.
Surrounding/Scenery The Forest
Why- Copperstare enjoys lounging about the thickest parts of the forest because it reminds him of the place where he once lived as a kit. He often thinks that if he goes deep enough that one day he'll find the cabin where he once lived and find his family waiting for him.

Why- Copperstare loves to fight in battles but also just practicing his moves against opponents or even things like trees and bushes. It gives him a thrill and the rush he gets from it is like a drug for him. he can never get enough.

Why- Copperstare enjoys playing this game because it was his favourite as a kit. He always enjoyed the idea of running and trying to survive while trying to stay away from predators. He also enjoyed being a predator himself but he was usually the prey.

He could hear them...those vicious creatures getting closer and closer. He could feel his Mother's body growing weaker, tired from running with the kit in her mouth. He could feel the rain soaking his pelt, feel the blood that trickled down from his neck. He could hear the snarls and barks as the creatures got closer still, feel the panic in his Mother as she tried to run, tried to get away. He could feel the pain she felt, almost knowing that this was the end, this was where they would die and his tiny maw opened wide as he was torn from his mother's grasp as one of the creatures bit into her scruff and suddenly the kit was on the ground, the mud soaking into his cream fur. He looked up to see one looming over her, it's jaws wide and it's eyes bright as it seemed to smile, the white foam dripping from it's mouth. His eyes widened as it bit her again, tearing into her leg as if it were a toy. He heard it squeal as the blood flowed from it's cheek and suddenly he was picked up again, his mother rushing over the log that was slippery from the rushing river. He remembered catching a glimpse of one of the foxes slipping in, a loud scream piercing the night as it was dragged under. The kit's eyes were wide with fear as his Mother collapsed in the grass, pushing herself up again and running off, knowing that she could not do this much longer. The shadows swirled around them, hissing and growling as they reached for the kit and his mother. The she-cat knew she could go no further and she quickly found a spot beneath some bracken, a hole that looked to be an old rabbit den. The she-cat gently placed her kit into the hole, her eyes gazing into his with sadness, knowing that this was her end. He felt her tongue rush over his head before she turned away. The kit blinked and took a step forward, a mew echoing from his chest as his mother turned and nudged him back into the hole, tears running down her face as she shook her head, quietly telling him that he had to stay. The kit mewed again but sat down, ducking as the foxes ran past him. Everything seemed to go silent as the kit waited. He seemed to wait for such a long time until here was a snap of thunder and a loud roaring sound, drowning out what he could have sworn was a scream...a sound that would forever haunt him. He waited until it was silent again before quietly padding out of the small hiding place, his tiny legs barely allowing him to move through the mud. He could smell something salty in the distance and followed the scent, seeing a body...a cat's body. There was another flicker of lightning and the kit noticed his mother. His eyes grew wide with happiness as he ran to her, burying his nose into her soft fur, wanting her to hold him and whisper that he was her little prince, her little angel but his mother didn't move and never again would she tell him how much she loved him...no, his mother was no longer there. The kit gave a tiny mew as he walked to the front of her, seeing her closed eyes and the sadness in her face. The tiny tom gave another small mew before he nudged her gently, trying to get her to wake up so that they could go home. His own eyes filled with tears as he opened his maw again. ''Mom?'' he whispered, nudging her again. ''You've gotta get up...we have to go home...'' he repeated, his eyes closing as the tears ran down his cheeks and onto his mother's fur. ''Please Mom...wake up...'' he whispered before laying beside his Mother and closing his eyes, hoping that when he opened them that this would all be a dream but when he did, the rain was still coming down and his Mother remained silent...silent like the dead.
With a gasp, the eyes of the cream tom flew open, his sides heaving as his breathing exploded from his mouth. It took him a moment to realize that he was okay, he was safe. Lostpaw looked around for a moment as he tried to calm his breathing. He was in the apprentice den and all around him the sleeping bodies of his Clanmates lay around him, they eyes shut and they breathing slow. Lostpaw drew in a final breath before he stood, walking out of the den and into the cool night. Slowly, he padded up onto a hill and sat down, his gaze focusing on the stars as he watched them from where he sat. The wind blew gently through his fur, rustling it, as if wanting him to run and dance freely through the fields with it but Lostpaw remained sitting, remained still and silent as he watched the stars, his emerald gaze reflecting the night sky. The creamy coloured tom flicked his tail as he listened to the crickets in the distance. Their beautiful noise made him feel calm and he let out a sigh as his heart finally stopped beating so quickly.
''I don't understand...why can't you just leave me in peace?'' he asked quietly as he stared at the stars, wondering why he continued having the tortuous dreams. ''Why can't you just leave me alone?'' he whispered before looking down at his paws, the stars remaining silent as they twinkled brightly from above. Lostpaw sighed again as he looked back up at the sky, his tail flicking by his side. ''Silent as ever...'' he mewed quietly before standing and padding back into the apprentice den, praying that his dreams would remain just as silent as the stars.
