OMGOMGOMGOMG I COLORED SOMETHING YAAAAAY.haha, this is so flowery and girly and horrible like that I like it. mwahaha. It's been sitting on my computer since September. I inked it in one day, digitally.
I was so proud of myself. Then I forgot about it. Then I worked on coloring it on and off.AND YEAH. Thank Kunou, Becki, and BB-chan because they encouraged me to actually post something. Love you guys ^^b
This was also my first time using textures. Unless you count the crappy contest entry now in my scraps. Yay. I really liked how they came out, actually.
Oh, and look at how ugly it was before I messed with the colors. [link] This CG went through about five different MAJOR color changes before I was satisfied with this.
Ah! And don't laugh at the ugly purplish shade in the clothes shading! I just happened to slap it over to see what it would like and I liked it a lot.
RANDOM FACT: My favorite part of this is the eyes. ^^
character's name is Shihue. yeah, I know it sounds really shoujo-y and girly and ugh. But I like it. D:

It's beautiful! The other one was beautiful as well! It certainly wasn't ugly. I mean, the WIP had a nice nostalgic feel to it. Like everything else was dull except the eyes. ^^

This is beautiful. There really isn't a part of this I don't like. You did so many things in this picture and used so many techniques, and it all works so nicely and comes together beautifully. I'm really impressed! This shows like... all of your skills in one incredible picture...! For starters, the hair is awesome. The finely done strands look beautiful, and the coloring really brings it out. The pose looks natural, the flow of the picture looks natural... The colorful shading makes it look so much more beautiful, like the sun is glowing on the picture as a whole... The background looks great... AH, I love this...

My my, impressive coloring here! I like the shading on her clothing too -- it's very interesting to look at, and goes as far as to give the picture more depth. Pish, I don't know why you fuss over colors the way you do, you did well with them. And don't let five color changes bother you, many artists change colors halfway through their pieces many times over.
I really do love the overall color though! You've really improved your coloring since the CGs you've done in your past life. And the textures look really great too! Even if the flowers scream 'brushes!', they're very comfortably incorporated.
Keep going at it! I'm very excited to see your next work

XD; Five seemed like waaaay too much to me though. And they were really big; they weren't like a minor change in one spot. I changed EVERYTHING. XD;
haha, there was no way I was going to draw every flower. So I texturized them so it wouldn't be easy to notice XDDD

Wow, wow, wow. I don't know where to start! WHO! WHEN! HOW did you learn how to shade this good in just one BIG step????!! Heck, I don't want to sound mean or rude but you weren't even half as good as this on coloring! o_O; Were you practicing all hardcore while we didn't know you were!? Huh! I'm so proud of you! Jeez, first you impress me big time on drawing, and now this! Stop it! Ha ha! I'm proud of you! I'm so very impressed! Man, even the background is magnificent! Wow, and the blending of colors on the kimono are just so pretty! TEACH me how you did that!! Seriously, I've tried some times but I just don't know! You really have to teach me!
Man, it's art like this that really makes it worth visiting here. QUALITY over QUANTITY. And I've been following those awful steps for more than a year. -_-

It only looks like I was really bad at CGing because I never showed you much. Also...I redid stuff on this. a LOT. So maybe it counts as two CGs. XDDDDD Hmm...but this is only my third completed CG. Maybe I improve really fast in CG?
XD smudge tool...but I have a tablet so you'll probably have to go with blur tool (which I hate).

Who cares if it would count as two CGs. Two in one to make great quality is better than two simple ones! It's like N64 to PS1! Quality over quantity!

The smudge tool...? I don't remember the smudge tool doing such great job like that...and I don't think a tablet would work better just for that. Hmm...

You just put down a really basic shade that can be slightly messy. Then you rub it around on certain places to get a half cel/half soft shade. then you right click Select Transparency on the layer and mess around with it from there. XD

Since you're a mouse user, maybe you can try the blur tool at 100%?
