I started this a couple years back and wasn't happy with it then. I wanted it to have more of an edge, more of a "real" feeling. I experimented with adding a blade and some slash marks/splatter to the arm but I think it took away from the overall feel (plus I'm rusty after trying to delve into linework more than painting). But essentially, behind this digital artwork...

is horror. I wanted to convey, with a human approach, the feeling of fear and having your life stripped away from you in the most gory manner possible. And share with you this: the abhorrent lack of animal cruelty laws in our world. I'd forgotten that instagram autoplays videos and had one rather disturbing act of violence pop up in my feed the other night, which kept me awake for hours. It's hard to see -- but important to know -- what goes on in the world that we don't usually hear about. And it's even more important to bring attention to it and be a voice for the voiceless.
