Very pleased you stuck with the original canon under-torso cockpit. Looks much tougher in my opinion.

this looks great! I love the modernization of the old design. very true to the classic, while bringing it out of the blocky 80sΒ

Love Archers; they make great targets if you can push them into a corner and get inside their minimum range without too much damage!

Wait, these aren't official Battletech art? Man, I wish I owned the rights to this game, just so I could hire you.

Oh, I really misread what you'd said then. My bad. Good to know there's such an awesome artist working on Battletech!

I believe the running logic is that if you're gonna fill a dropship with something, bring the best. So while fire support mechs are wasteful, they can outperform a vehicle if the need for flexibility arrives.

Hands down far and away better then MWO's. Honestly mate they need to hire you to design mechs; this is a WAYYYYY better Archer design then MWO's

Problem is that comes down to objective opinions, and they don't need any more capacity than a single artist can provide, so they don't really have room for my work.

I like the way that you set up the missile launcher doors. Your idea of two doors per side makes more sense than the original ones.

Back in the old days in the 90s...the first Mech I ever piloted was the old 3025 Archer.
Have been in love with the design ever since...and I really like your take on it.

I love the two-piece-missile-doors.
Makes sense as two smaller doors open and shut quicker than one large.

Yeah, the configuration of these pods make a single piece door simply too long, and we got to see that in action with the awkward MWO doors.

Agreed, especially with the shadows.
Looks like they are floating aside the mech, visible when it moves.
But i like that they implemented the doors.
With all mechs that can have such.
Makes them more lifelike, i think.

Archer (ARC-2R) - 70t, Inner Sphere, Standard 280 @ 64.8kph, 10 standard heat sinks (LRM-20 x2, Medium Lasers x4)
Mad Dog (Prime variant) - 60t, Clan, XL 300 @ 86.4kph, 12 C Double Heat Sinks (C LRM-20 x2, C Medium Pulse Lasers x2, C Large Pulse Lasers x2)
The Mad Dog weighs less and has less armor.Β However it has more damage potential, a better chance to evade incoming fire, and the ability to reposition faster for better long-range support effectiveness.Β It is also an Omnimech- meaning it can swap out components faster when being repaired, and makes it more flexible configuration-wise.
While the Archer has manipulators, it does not have the build [or stamina] for actual close-range or melee combat.Β It also carries 4t (720 rounds) of LRM ammo, versus the Mad Dog's 2t (360 rounds).
