look again, you will notice that it's essentially an open fronted skirt held in place over her rear end and around her human tauso (under the jacket)

I know it looks like that, but strangely no. I chose the colour based off of what dyes were supposedly available at the time, and by trying to draw a fur lined coat that roughly followed a pattern I already knew as being roughly period. Also mittens not gloves, a high belt, with an eating knife and a coin pouch, and a triangle hood.
I'm sure there are more things I could add to make it a bit more medieval.

Okay. That's probably the same way the AtLA team designed the water tribes' apparel as well as they did put a lot of thought and research into their designs, which would explain the similarities.
