Max from Maximum Ride. I messed up her hair, I know, but I always forget she's supposed to be blond. And that her hair is wavy... or did I get that wrong?Right hand is, argh, not good. And the wings might look messy, because I tried a few different techniques of shading. And I got the feathers a bit wrong but, *sigh* bare with me.
Anyways... sketched about a week ago and I decided to go back to it today. After finishing Max, I also added the half-ass background (the railing and the sky you can't really see because my scanner decided it's not worth it).
And yes, I drew fanart of Maximum Ride, even though I said I don't like it very much. The idea itself is pretty good, though.

She actually isn't blonde - she has light brown straight hair that the manga, for some reason, ruined for everyone. Most people say her hair color is really really close to my hair color which is a light brown with natural blonde streaks here and there. But you didn't like the books, and I did, so it might not really matter to you either way.
I just get annoyed when people think Max's hair is blonde and I just wanted to correct you there.

I agree. The manga version TOTALLY got it wrong! The did the complete OPPOSITE of what her hair is really like in the manga version, so you're doing just fine. Quite frankly, this drawing is phenomenal! Her hand looks great, as do her wings. IAmEmilyK, I agree with you on how the hair would be because she also has hair like mine where it's light brown with blonde streaks, although mine has some red tint to it a bit.

they never gave a discription in the book how do you know that her hair is blond and wavy

Her hair is actually light brown and straight. It is in the first book in the first several chapters, and she only has thin, natural blonde streaks. Not blonde hair. And it said her hair was messy and gnarled and stuff, not curly. The manga ruined her description for some reason and made her hair blonde and wavy, although that is not the case.
Just correcting you to make sure you have your facts straight.

I'm pretty sure I read her description somewhere in the book. If it wasn't in the first one (or it was there as some weird clairvoyant mistake of the person who translated it to my language), then it probably was in the second. I haven't gotten past the first half of the third book and I'm pretty sure it was mentioned somewhere before.

No, you got her hair right. The manga messed everything up, it's supposed to be brown and in a braid(in a braid in some of the first book). Great job on the picture.

You can, but it takes a lot of time and effort... but if you like drawing and it makes you happy, than it's totally worth it.

I like it, but Max's hair is kind of too... Uh, shiny and girly, y'know? Well, IMHO.

Yeah, I know, the hair was supposed to be the "after the makeover" hair from the first book. It just seemed to me she'd have a "pretty girl" look after that.

OMG this is amazing! I actually searched "Max Ride" cuz I am drawing my own pic of Sam Test right now, and I need major drawing help. Trust me, us normal people out there don't even come near this. Truly, great work! (BTW, right hand looks fine to me. Most of my pics just have their hands in their pockets. Yeah, I suck that bad at hands...lol.)
Really don't see why you don't like it. The story is incredible, even though Max is a little too full of herself. That's why I made Sam Test. 
P.S. First line of signature explains more about me than a biography, incase you are thinking "What the heck is wrong with this chick". lol
