They were two of the last to crawl to the end of the track. George had had to stop 4 times to untangle Kamov from the wires, the Yanma couldn't be trusted not to fly off yet, but the string securing him to George's arm was too long and it kept trying to take off.
This had slowed down the pair considerably, and by the time George had squirmed up along side a woman in a gasmask, who smelled faintly of drink even through the mud, he felt pathetically slow and he was already aching all over. Then the barbed wire finished and he looked up into the face of the Donphan that had been chucking lumps of packed mud and water from the river at them at intervals.
George's jaw clenched, expecting something new to be lobbed in his general direction.

George's basic training didn't get off to a good start, which I suppose is fitting as I struggled with this and it's my first picture for End Run =X

But at least he met Miss Adams, who I suspect he'd get on rather well with.
