Description Marilyn Monroe... because this woman defined sex appeal.
------
Pen and Ink
Pointalism (one dot at a time) the entire way... never again... *shudder* This cost me one of my pens, my right hand, and over 20 hours of my life.

Thanks! To be honest, I'm not a die-hard fan either... but she seemed to be one of those infamous characters in history that just called to be drawn.

Holy mother of jesus. O.o I have seen some pretty awesome ventures into pointallism, but I think this beats them all to death with a mallet. The most I ever did with pointallism was a tree on lined paper that wasn't more than four inches tall. And . . . even that killed me. x.x

On a . . . . more intelligent note, the background has a very soft feel to it, not all exactly the same yet not too different. Like felt, or suede. Or something. The shadowing on her left arm is amazing, as is her dress. But really, it all just takes the cake and eats it too.

um holy crap. You pointed the background too? x.x much, much, much respect there. I usually get fed up and throw the pen away after about an hour *laughs* and odd as it is, I really love the folds of the cloth over her hip, though the entire thing is nicely done.

There is no questioning why this is your featured deviation. Amazingly well done and yes the effort really paid off. If I had attempted what you did, I would've stabbed someone with my pen less than half-way through finishing.

Dot Dot Dot...

WOw, that must have taken such patience! It looks like it was worth it, though. The picture came out gorgeous! It's amazing how simply marking in dots can have such depth!

Holy ----, that's a lot of dots. The effect is incredible, though. I think this may be your best piece yet - the shadows, contrast and style are superb.

Wow! Very nice work. The appearance of depth and shadow here is VERY effective. I would leave the highlights in her hair a little lighter and darken up the shadows - bring out more of the insanely blonde Marilyn look.

Yes I know exactly what you're saying. I thought that there could have been more contrast but the right half of the hair was one of the last parts I did so my pen was almost completely dead.
Thanks so much for your comment!

No worries! I remember having to do something similar to pointalism in Grade 10 art class but with this project we had to square off the picture and do a different tiny design (like little circles or wavy lines or something) instead of a dot for the shading in each square. The result, unfortunately for everyone, was just one big ambiguous blob.

so... you essentially had to do abstract pointilism? That's insane... serisouly.. there's almost no point (bud um bum ch) to pointalism if the style isn't realsim (or something similar) ... wow.. waste of some good pens!
