I really like this piece,
Interesting lighting that is very soft against a darker lined piece. I think that sets it off well. Also the fact that it serves as kind of a cloudy sky/haze for the rain is great.
I like the different tones in the grass instead of it being a blanket of a solid shade. A bit of a depression at least under his paws may provide a better effect, there is a tad bit of 'float' I feel. The speckle flowers are a nice touch. Basically I just love the relaxing feel of the background of the starkness of the cat.
I said I like the lines already but the intentional fur feel of the tabby area with the cleanness of the white is fun to look at, also the white inside the ear is a different touch that seems to work well. However it would be interesting to see him with textured white too.
Great expression - I see it like a snug diffidence couple with 'oh well' about the weather conditions. Regardless you conveyed it well and without wasted or sloppy lines. The way he fur on his back stands out and goes down to the tail is nice but may be a bit too smooth? I think another small break might be good ( I have to critique something right)
The collar is a great 'extra' but also a focal point with its splash of color with nice shading, love the hole/buckle/bell details
Again I really like this piece and can easily see it as an illustration in a children's book or magna
