Description Holy Crap, a new submission!

This is one of the 3 paintings I've been working on for a long time. It's a little odd, this piece, because the two people involved with this painting are both friends of mine. So their may be some issues with them (and hopefully not me) on the nature of this piece.

The back story is indeed about regret and choices we make in life, but I am not really at liberty to dive any deeper unless given permission by the buyer. So you get to make up your own meaning this go around

Also, 2000 Fry points if you guess which novel I used.

And finally, a big thank you for everyone who supports my art and feels so compelled to leave comments. It makes me smile....but only slightly

I really identify with this piece. Its probably just my interpretation, but i feel like it very accurately depicts a lesson I've just dealt with in my life.

i really like this because it still shows your style, but finally has different features to your human-ish beings

like the hands arent the clawed suffering hands that seems to be a trend, they look less sinister and more vulneralbe

if any of that made sence

(Only slightly? C'mon you have to have grinned fit to split your face at least once... deviants tend to be rather witty that way.)

I really love this peice...Did you get any inspiration from the book or did you choose it because it fits so well?

ShawnCoss In reply to Mel-chanchan [2008-08-01 23:27:23 +0000 UTC]

The inspiration actually was from the client who commissioned me for it. The reason I chose the book was more of an homage towards the female in the piece who happens to be a friend of mine as well

Noice. I bet it has some hidden message if you look at it backwards, but I'm not going to get into that.

I have to second that. The entire thing is jaw-dropping but that part really has a powerful presence to it. The piece itself just feels *clenches fists* like it wants to overwhelm you with some form of emotion. I never got a chance to read Diary so I imagine I'm missing out on a considerable amount of symbolism, but even so that doesn't diminish the massive, deep, dense aura this piece gives off. Fucking beautiful.

Well I sent you my stocks on the e-mail on your profile, but idk if you got em or not

Well this is a sick peice, abit different from your usual, but its a great change

Corviid [2008-07-31 23:21:54 +0000 UTC]

Hmm..I'm going to guess the novel is "Diary" by Chuck Palahniuk. An apt choice, if I'm correct. If not, then oh well..I lose.

This piece is amazing..I love the depth, especially of the person in the foreground, as well as the dichotomy of the color choice. It's very powerful.
