Description The resin copy is cast! WHOOT! My partner and I are just having way too much fun with these. We spent all of last night prepping for the casting stage we were literally jumping up and down when we realized we could finally start casting.

THANK YOU FOR SUCH AN AWESOME TUTORIAL!!!

Where did you get the face mold, if I may ask? I want to design a mask for an art project and don't know where to find a plaster mold of a fox's face. Did you buy it? Please help.

I made it by hand, both the original sculpt and the silicone mold required to cast a resin mask.

Are you selling a sculpt similar to the original without silicone molding? I need to use plaster because the classroom doesn't have any on hand.

Hi,! just wondering if i can use PLASTER WRAP for the mother mold? or do i use plast-i-paste?

I've used both and both work well. Plaster wrap is often grabbed if I need to do something quickly.

I use resin hinges.

How would I go about making them? If you're willing to share, that is. Or can you buy them somewhere?

so.. you make it in clay, then cast it in plaster? it looks like plaster under that resin... and then a resin cast over that? and later cut out the eyes?
so complex ><

Sharpe19 In reply to Fruba [2010-11-02 22:35:13 +0000 UTC]

No. The plaster seen is a plaster cast of my own head. I sculpt over that, make a mold of the clay, then make a cast with the mold. Not as hard as you think. It's actually quite easy, just time consuming.

I've cut the lower jaw off from the upper since I last posted so now it's prepped for a moving jaw.
