am not coming from photography but from art - classical paintings...they didn't have the chance like us to take shots......so they worked very very hard on the perfect arrangements........

like to grainy or blurry or you know when one takes a shot & the white balance is off (to yellow)...
so your mind is focused on those things rather than the composition
