Awww. Thank you! I wouldn't get your hopes up for the rest of my gallery. I was looking at it the other day (since I've been on hiatus for so long) and personally, I think it needs A LOT of work!

amazing picture! capturing the chain link with such an amazing focus yet maintaining an ambigious image of the life behind the fence.... amazing shot

I can feel this very much so. Perhaps the title should be something slightly Deeper so as to better fit the subject matter.

Well done.

I'm awful at entitling things.. I can never do them justice.. I've pondered taking to naming them "Untitled 1 - 1,000".. what, pray tell, would you suggest?

Nooooooo dont go the Untitled route just ponder the title and the meaning of the image more hehe

hahahahahaha.. it gets really hard for me because I can't really remove myself from what was around the photo instead of what's IN the photo.. make any sense?

Aye I can understand that very much. At least your pictures turn out all pretty and are good to look at though... most of mine turn out with more meaning than pretty sometimes I just want some pretty damnit! lol

don't you use a film slr? *L* I have a digital... so.. I know before I develop which turns out and which doesn't..

I use digital and am also using my Pentax ME Super SE yes I like to brag about the long fancy name

Nothing from the Pentax is up here yet, still working on my roll of b/w.

Yeah I know what turns out and what doesn't but that doesnt factor in the fact that I still take ugly pictures lol. I just pic the least ugly ones out

this is really impressive, I love your idea behind it (-> description). there's always a boundless, pure and flashy life behind fences, but you're never able to get this life completely. there will always be one last fence blocking your way... that's what I somehow get out of it. interesting and innovative

wow, thanks a lot.. sometimes, I find it hard to come up with a less superficial interpretation for my photos.. its harder to separate what the camera sees from what you see when you take the picture (i.e., the surroundings).. like one person saw a prison in my "Today, we escape..." photo.. it wasn't a prison at all, but it could easily be interpreted as such..

thanks a lot again for your ! very insightful!

a photography always carries two meanings I think. first of all the obvious one. that, what you can actually see: smiling faces, raining skies, blood on asphalt... whatsoever... but I love to look behind to catch that second, subtle meaning. and this one evokes a lot at second sight. alright, your piece won. I looked at it for too many times...

thanks a lot for the !!!

I think most of the time, finding the second meaning is accidental.. as the best things in life are..

So this may be my new favorite of your's (as I know that means oh so much ). This is such a great picture! I wanna know how I could be right there at the same spot as you taking pictures and not come up with something half that good. Sometimes you sicken me my dear shae...sometimes.

..are you fucking insane? my shit isn't better than yours at all.. *L* IF it IS, I credit the camera, not the talent..

What makes the image even more disturbing is the duplicity of fences- hence, the commentary is appropriate. I think you've captured a evocative image. Well done.

shaefred In reply to mykem [2004-11-23 00:38:28 +0000 UTC]

thank you very much... yeah.. the fences were around a staircase and kind of redundant.. but it was also intended for use by middle school students, so I guess they are necessary..

again, thanks much for the comment and the !!

mykem In reply to shaefred [2004-11-24 16:08:10 +0000 UTC]

It may be redundant but it accidently serves the purpose. As for the fav, it's a haunting and finite image, and rightfully deserve it.

that looks great. it's so sharp, i like that.
i feel like im sitting behind that net, and looking out on the world moving.
The lights have turned out really good with the long closing time. and the ones in the back, has a beautiful star shape.
mmhh and the frame fits, great work.

shaefred In reply to xsteenx [2004-11-22 06:39:00 +0000 UTC]

I'm glad you like the starish shaped lights in the back because I can't figure out how to get rid of them..

I cut it down to just those two bits of fence.. I'm happy it worked out with the photo, though.. it was rainy and cold and I was just about ready to call it quits..

I'm flattered that you like it.. I can't wait to get all my photos from this weekend posted.. I'm actually happy with a lot of the results, but I realize I have to pace myself in the posting..

thanks a lot for the comment! I'll check out your gallery when I have more time..

It's good you cutted it down to only two bits of fence, it makes it more calm, it would have been very different with more of them.
i'm looking forward to see more. and your welcome
