yeah, unfortunatly you do have to be lucky to see them at stellwagon, in my 4 months out at sea we saw them like... under ten times.

They are beautiful and so playful! Saw a double in-sync breach once (no photo though)

True that!
I've only seen finback whales and minke whales a scant few times. Humpbacks are far more common there. Not to mention the right whales.

Have you ever seen the right whales?

They must be marvelous to see in the wild. Maybe next time I'll get lucky.

yeeessssss I got to work on them when I was over there, on a D-tagging project with NOAA

was ace, there were whales all around us, saw breaches, surface active groups and one whale even decided to jsut hang out right by the boat for ages!

I have AMAZING photos and video of them BUT because I was on an offical NOAA boat, the project leader by law has to be able to account for all photos/images etc of the right whales during their project, so I can't put them anywhere on the internet or she'll get in trouble

so I'll either have to try and see them on a whale watch or see them in canada so I can get photos I can show people!

Ah. I see if you're legally barred from posting, well then... Obviously you can't.

Still though, I'm happy that you got to see them. Not only one of the most endangered but one of the horniest, randiest whales in existence... What's not to love?

thank you wild dolphins are hard to photograph, there is often so much happening at once so fast its hard to know where to point the camera! We often saw pods of 100+ AWS dolphins at a time out at sea!

thanks they were not very common in the area I was in but when they did turn up it was always amazing, I saw pods of hundreds on some days!

I guess I know quite a bit about them already, because when my friends need to know something about orca's, they ask me. XD I know quite a lot about sharks too.
