Description For the SHS Mazzy challenge.

The chain (which ended up being more like scale) was annoying, but her hair was the worst. Argh, I do not want to have to draw and colour hair like that for a long time.

Ah yes, used this as my first picture coloured in Photoshop too... Slowly getting the hang of it.

Mazzy is from Baldur's Gate 2.

I really love how you challenge yourself. There must have bee na lot about this piece that was challenging and you can look at it and be proud. Good for you. I love the chain especially, it looks well researched and executed. :0

Thank you I think it's always good to challenge yourself as an artist and seek to improve your skills (people underestimate how much hard work is involved in getting better at art, talent is only a small and relatively insignificant part, most of it is just sticking to it and actively looking for ways to improve). Fortunately there are a lot of tutorials around these days to help with that, and it's very easy to find references help you figure out how to draw something that you're not used to drawing.

I look at that chain now and think 'oh gosh how could I have had the patience to sit and do all of that'

Always great to see fan art from one of the best games ever. I always liked Mazzy, but the character seemed so underdeveloped compared to others.

That's very good overall. The only advice I could give is that if you have black outlines on one part of the picture, have it on all of the picture, or else it tends to take on an unfinished look. Otherwise, you are well on your way! Wish my early Photoshop colorings looked that good! Heck, wish my recent Photoshop colorings looked that good!

I actually intended for the picture to be almost completely lineless, but the face looked so bad without lines that I had to leave them on there unfortunately.

First picture colored in Photoshop, huh? Looks like you're well on your way Excellent shading and color scheme, and I think the chain / scale turned out really well, especially on her left arm. Hair looks great too, and I can see how both of those things would be hard to get right!
