I was commissioned to paint one of the custom room guardian dolls by the amazingly talented AnyaBoz and I was absolutely delighted to work on this piece! She is a kitsune based one the Yuki-Onna, a spirit from the Japanese folklore who lures men into their cold deaths. I gave her a more anthropomorphic figure to better convey the gesture. I had so much fun with the hair, it creates such a dramatic effect. I really had a blast with this one!

This is so amazing. I can't believe this is watercolor! It must've been a real challenge. It really looks like I'm being drawn into the picture and the color scheme creates this eery atmosphere of a second dimension or something so you definitely captured the idea behind Yuki-Onna.
