Description

Commission for of the character Aya the Witch.

reference was used for the background and pose of Steve Beaumont, and the book: "How to draw Wizards, Warriors, Orcs and Elves". In general, I recomend that book for somebody with already knowledge in drawing, rather than to learn to draw with it.

Dang--you're good at interjecting character into designs!

This reminds me of a "Robotech Art" book that has a preface note that extolls anime characters with the "...mystic art of being able to see through their low hanging forelocks!" or words to that effect.

Straight bangs on sexy adult women seem to be an artistic character shorthand for "evil woman", or "temptress". Indeed, I even seem to recall little girl bangs on adult women or evil girls being referred to as "witchbangs" somewhere, once upon a time. I might have left the forelock hair as insanely low-hanging straight cut bangs for that reason.

Looks like "Castle Greyskull" in the background!

XD Yeah, surely is a complete art to be able to see across the forelocks! XD

and yes, is based in castle greyskull there! XD

Indeed, it is an art to see through the hair. You might even say...it's magic.

yes, but maybe Warlock classed or the new Essentials 'Witch' subclass of Wizard o.o

Aya's actually a wizard statted out in the 4e ruleset, but since it just seemed to fit her better everyone just called her a witch, and...that stuck. Didn't even know they had a witch subclass in the Essentials ruleset, I know they had another fluff book for 4e with a new Witch class but that didn't appeal to me at all when I first came up with her character; it seemed a bit dark for what I was going for.

...then again, Aya's pretty much a walking/levitating/teleporting death and destruction making machine at level 8 as is, even by 4e standards...though houseruling by me as DM and then Edwin (who runs Aya at the table and min/maxs to the extreme) eventually have made her pretty invincible at this point.

of course, in game names and out of games names are not always the same

evil mages, dark warlocks and all are called Mlechas(I should check the spelling) in the continent and cultures of Kush/Nyambe, wich is a BAD term

True true, though in Aya's case it started off as Fiva's quirk of calling everything as she sees it, even after being corrected. So at first meeting Aya she was like "Hey, you're a witch!", and Aya was like "Uhh, kinda..." and then after Fiva referring to her as witch some couple hundred times the rest of the party was like "Witch, help us!" and Aya has gotten accustomed to it, if perhaps a bit aggrevated.

She's technically a good character, though appearances are decieving...though, let me tell you, she's the most horrifying PC I've ever faced as a DM.
